The Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging (LMTAAA) will open applications for the 2026 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) on Wednesday, April 15.
Older adults who meet age and income rules can apply at lmtaaa.org/farmersmarket for $80 in funds. Program dollars are available for fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey at local farmer’s markets. Applicants must live in Lewis, Mason or Thurston counties.
Last year, rising food insecurity drove record demand, according to a news release from LMTAAA. Residents claimed every available benefit card in all three counties for the first time.
“This program helps when budgets are tight,” said LMTAAA Community Supports Director Valerie Aubertin. “Older adults tell us it helps them eat healthier and feel better. One shared it was their only way to get a fresh apple. This benefit lets seniors enjoy nutritious meals without giving up something else.”
