Setting Realistic Goals in the New Year

The New Year is such an exciting time! Fresh year, fresh start, fresh goals!

Why do so many not make it into February with the same excitement? Setting unrealistic expectations and putting too much pressure on ourselves to achieve them is the main reason so many falter, get overwhelmed, or quit.

In the spirit of Wellness lets talk about realistic goals and how to stick with them.

The first step is self awareness. Finding those lifestyle choices and habits you want or need to change is where it all begins. Focus on a few obtainable items to set your sights on. Adding too many changes too quickly is the true recipe for disaster. You don't have to change EVERYTHING all at once to achieve change! Start small, achieve, set new goals!

Next, embrace community and connection. You are not the only one out there with similar wellness goals. Find your tribe and work together to create connection based on goals and lifting each other up! This can be your local gym community, Facebook groups and events, or other community forums with like minding people. We all need cheerleaders in our corner!

Finally, think about your changes not as reinvention but as embracing what nourishes you mind, body, and soul! Everyday is a new fresh day, not just January 1st, so if you stumble or falter in your wellness goals you can always start again or pivot to find a different route that serves you better!

Everyday is your day and make it great!
