Signal Mountain Pie Run 2025!

I have been thoroughly enjoying this “run for fun” and “workout for fun” approach rather than stressing over PRs and aesthetics.

So grateful to have the ability to just go out and run a 10k for fun on a whim, while also finding a balance of time and mental space for running and fitness.

It took a minute to get to a place mentally where I am truly ok with not always striving to be faster, leaner, stronger, smaller, whatever… but to still take care of my body in a healthy way.

I’m sure my competitive drive will be back, but I think I’ll be more capable of maintaining a good perspective when it does ❤️

I’ve been working on being more aware of the “why” behind what I do. In everything. It has helped me find peace in doing tasks that seem mundane and ordinary.

I’d love to hear where you find peace in ordinary, unsuspecting places ❤️

My Update 🫶🏻

Thanks for being here and thanks for caring. I have felt prompted to share a little bit of what this past year has been like. And it all leads back to Him. It always does.

Feeling ready to get back on the Gram after a nice, long break! Oh and after having my third baby 😇☺️

I am just about 8 weeks postpartum and feeling like I’m starting from square 1! I love the journey, but it’s definitely a grind. I love - and have missed - the community here while going through said grind 😅❤️

Let me know if you’re in a similar boat! New parent? Pregnant? Nursing?

My plans as of now:

🧱 Build my fitness back slowly by running 3x/week and lifting 3x/week

🥗🐮 Eat mindfully while slowly cutting calories - making sure to maintain my milk supply. I’m currently about 25 lbs from my ideal running weight 😅 So I’ll *gently* start chipping away at that.

🏃🏼‍♀️ Keep it up until December! I’m hoping that by then, I’ll feel ready to start training for BOSTON. (Yes, I’m tearing up just typing that out 🥹)

So also let me know if you’re planning on running Boston 2024!! 🦄

✨Long Run Workouts✨

Today I ran 16 miles total with 12 of those miles at marathon pace (around 7:50 min/mile).

These are my favorite kind of running workouts 🤩. I remember being skeptical the first time I started hearing about long run workouts. I had ALWAYS heard that all of your long runs needed to be slow.

As I researched into it and as I started incorporating them into my training, I learned to love them because they are such a good confidence boost. It gives you a chance to practice running at marathon pace on tired legs while also practicing your hydration and nutrition strategy.

Just be smart about when and how many you do in your training cycle. I have made the mistake of running too many of these in one training cycle and my body had a hard time recovering.

Thankfully, I have taking out the guesswork for me this time around 😉

✨Grateful✨

As our family has settled into our “new normal” after some big life changes, I’ve noticed that I’ve used a lot of my running as a tool to reflect and meditate.

As I have done so, I always seem to finish the run with the same conclusion:

I have SO MUCH to be grateful for.

My health.
My husband’s health.
My children’s health.
My family.
My extended family.
My in-laws.
Our financial stability.
Our home.
Where we live.
Our friends.
Our community.
Our faith.

Our faith. My faith. My drive to overcome my fears and failures and shortcomings WITH my faith. My faith that keeps my head above water through both the calm days AND the stormy days. I don’t know where I would be without my faith. My faith in new beginnings, in light over darkness, in a god who truly knows me and cares about me and my family.

I am so grateful that I can always find hope even amidst the trials that seem the most hopeless.

A really cool guy (Thomas S. Monson) said, “Having gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not delivering it.” … So I wanted to express what has been on my heart.

I am forever grateful to have running as a hobby to give me the time I need to reflect, meditate, and keep a clear perspective on what’s important. 🤍

The Story

I created the Soul Runner blog because I simply want to become the BEST me that I can be, enjoy the journey, and inspire others to do the same!

Through my own experience, I have learned that I cannot become my best self unless I love what I'm doing. I want to set, reach, and exceed my goals. But I have learned that I cannot sacrifice passion and purpose in pursuit of those goals...

Soul Running... Soul Fitness... Soul Stories... Are all about taking time away from the "weight-loss"/Competitive/Frustrating parts of our sport or activity - and reminding ourselves of why we truly love what we do. I try to encourage everyone to take a step back every once in a while and do whatever it takes to remind themselves of why they love their sport.
