So much to unpack here.
Glad that it was written so I didn’t have to write it.
In a nutshell:
-Diets don’t work, not least because metabolic adaptation often occurs with prolonged caloric restriction and weight loss.
-Fat stigma is an under-recognized problem, especially in the medical field, where it is highly counter-productive.
-Being fat is not a simple matter of being weak-willed. Environment matters. We need to be hold the food industry accountable for their part in making hyper-palatable addictive food products, which means examining how we subsidize agriculture, which is a whole other can ‘o worms...

For decades, the medical community has ignored mountains of evidence to wage a cruel and futile war on fat people, poisoning public perception and ruining millions of lives. It's time for a new paradigm.

Also good as an adult snack, too, which brings me to another soapbox- why are there kid foods and adult foods? In traditional cultures, kids eat what adults eat. Train their palates early on for real food, whole food, “difficult” foods, and we may have a chance at making a dent in this childhood obesity epidemic.

It's well-established that improved fitness levels are strongly associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
In-office assessment of fitness levels can be tricky, but it appears they don't have to be - push-ups are a good proxy of overall fitness levels, according to this recently published article.
Basically, the more push-ups you can do, the lower your risk of cardiovascular disease!
