Our bodies are incredibly complex organisms, with nonstop systems functioning like entire factories to keep us alive!

Our bodies are so good at sustaining existence, that we barely have to think about it.

Yet we can easily get so caught up in picking apart what we don’t like about our bodies that we forget to appreciate everything our bodies do for us. ❤️

Immense gratitude comes when we let go of body image thoughts (at least for a moment) and focus on the gift our bodies are.

Check out some remarkable human body facts in this blog post! Link in bio. 🙌🙌🙌

Broadening your definition of exercise and redefining what it means to move gives room for you to engage in pleasant movement throughout the day. In turn, you’ll probably move more regularly!

Our bodies were made to move. We have always been able to innately rely on our body’s own ability to keep our blood flowing and our muscles mobile.

There’s nothing wrong with formal exercise. If you genuinely enjoy it, great! But it’s not a requirement for “health.” Gyms, weights, resistance bands, and pilates classes haven’t always been around, and people survived just fine without them!

Formal exercise is one way to move; however, your body doesn’t know the difference between picking up weights or unloading groceries. All movement is movement.

Intuitive exercise and joyful movement are centered around freedom, not fear. With freedom comes the desire to move purely for the benefits!

Now that spring is here and summer is upon us there’s much to look forward to. A relaxed schedule, vacations, and sunny days spent outside. What’s not to love, right?

Well, for those who know what it feels like to dread lighter clothing and swimsuits, the warmer weather also heightens body image concerns.

The pressure to achieve a perfect beach body is in full force. Commercials and advertisements bombard you with new diets and workout plans promising quick results to tone up before heading to the beach.

Your summer can easily be stolen if you’re preoccupied with picking your body apart and wishing you were thinner or more toned. Instead of letting this season of sunshine pass by, you can choose to make this summer a positive experience!

Check out my latest blog post to learn more about leaving your body image concerns behind so you can enjoy the warm weather! Link in bio. ⛱🍉🏝🍦☀️👙🕶😎

Do you find yourself saying, “I can’t stop eating sugar!” whenever you eat sweets and feel like you don’t have the power to put them down? Sugar seems to have a pull on you, so it’s fair to believe sugar must be addicting, right?

Even scientists and health professionals have opinions about why your sweet tooth lands in the same category as drug addiction. Sugar is said to be the culprit in your chaotic eating behaviors, and slapping the “addictive” label on it has resulted in the widely known idea of sugar addiction. But this is a myth!

Many people demonize sugar as if it is really a drug, but this is a highly flawed viewpoint. To uncover the truth and set the facts on sweets straight, let’s debunk the theory of sugar addiction by breaking down the studies and research for you to see that it is, in fact, not true.

Check out how sugar addiction is debunked on my blog! Link in bio.

THIS! Love this article. I can't tell you how many people I've worked with who hear weight comments from others and then they start engaging in eating disorder behaviors again. Please don't make any body comments. Period. Even if you are trying to be nice or help someone feel better. You never know if the person is struggling OR if the people around you who hear that comment are struggling!

New blog post is up! Wanting to recover from an eating disorder can be challenging. Motivation can change day by day or hour by hour! Here are some reasons to choose recovery. Remember these on the hard days!

🌼 Food is enjoyed without worry, fear, or guilt. You can order a meal off a menu that genuinely sounds good to you in the moment.

🌼 The medical problems eating disorders and disordered eating cause such as a weakened heart, gastrointestinal issues, and disturbed hormone levels are majorly resolved. Your body functions at its best again.

🌼 Your energy levels increase, you’re less fatigued, and you sleep better at night because you’re nourishing your body AND mind.

🌼 You can focus during school or work because the obsessive thoughts about food, body, and weight no longer take over your brain space.

🌼 Relationships in your life become more authentic because you have the ability to be present with the people surrounding you.

🌼 The future feels more exciting to you because you can see all that you’re able to accomplish and become without food and body troubles holding you back.

🌼 You’re interested in connecting with people and having fun at social events, like family gatherings or parties, because you care about the purpose of the event MORE than the food at the event.

🌼 Simple hobbies make their way back into your life because your free time is no longer wasted on unhealthy behaviors.

🌼 You recognize your worth and discover what makes you YOU.

🌼 Exercise now means moving your body in ways that feel good. Movement is more
rejuvenating than exhausting.

🌼 You take part in the “little things” with joy like licking the spoon after serving ice cream or
happily accepting a yummy latté your coworker surprised you with.

🌼 The number on the clothing tag doesn’t control your mood for the day. You get
dressed and move on!

🌼 Your overall quality of life improves!

Wow it has been so loooooong since I've gone on my social media accounts for my business. 😬 I took a big break from social media to focus on other things I had going on in my life. Social media can make me feel overwhelmed! So I'm finally getting back on but I'm setting more boundaries for myself. My goal this year is to blog once a month (ambitious I know 😂) and to share my blog post on social media. Hopefully this will be a good balance for me so I don't get overwhelmed but can also continue to share messages about making peace with food and body positivity! 🙌

Check out this month's blog post about how to identify and get rid of food rules (link in bio).

This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness week. I love these quotes from Jennifer Gaudiani's book "Sick Enough". Your eating disorder may tell you that you aren't worth recovery. Don't listen to the lies! You are worth getting help. You are worth living without your eating disorder. YOU ARE WORTH RECOVERY! Reach out for help today if you are struggling.

“If you have never had an eating disorder, but you have a disordered relationship with food and your body, you are at risk for medical problems.
Sometimes it takes medical truths, challenging the false narrative of ‘I’m just being healthy,” to make patients realize they are engaging in behaviors that are anything but healthy.
Everyone has the potential for full recovery, and most medical problems will resolve with recovery.”

This time of year we are bombarded with messages that we need to change our bodies. Today in 2020, many people have heard that diets don't work, so diets have been rebranded and disguised into "lifestyle changes" or "programs specifically for you" to hide their diet-ness. They broadcast that "it's not a diet!" so you think this time it will work.
·
But if intentional weight loss is the goal, then it is still a diet. And remember that diets don't work! It's the sad and ironic truth that for the majority of people who lose weight on diet, the weight comes back (and many people gain even more weight on top of that). Dieting can also lead to health problems, disordered eating, and eating disorders.
·
You don't need to focus on weight loss to be healthy. Reject dieting and discover how to have a peaceful relationship with food and your body. For more information about intuitive eating, check out the huffpost article link in my bio! If you read the article, just ignore all the keto recipe adds on the side 😂😂
·
Disclaimer: I am not against weight loss. I'm against INTENTIONAL weight loss. It's great if you eat intuitively and you gain weight, lose weight, or your weight stays the same. Your body will do what it needs to do and you can focus on *health* and not your weight.

🎊New Year’s Goal 🎊
To continue to connect, listen, and care for my body by rejecting diet culture and doing what’s right for me. And to help others do the same. Because everyBODY is different, special, and incredible.
