The Slippery Rock University Flute Studio is committed to providing learning experiences to meet the current and future needs of today’s student. We recognize the unique power of music to express emotion, to teach, to foster communication, to access memories, to motivate, to initiate movement, and to provide enrichment for the community-at-large. If you are interested in auditioning for the SRU Flute Studio, please see the requirements listed below. Audition Procedures
Anyone desiring to be a flute major or minor at Slippery Rock University must be accepted by the music department audition committee. Music applicants must apply to and be accepted by the University before auditioning for acceptance into the Department of Music (i.e., a student must be admitted to the University first before he or she can be accepted into the Music program). Audition dates are scheduled in both fall and spring semesters, and may be arranged on one of these dates by filling out and submitting the online audition form. The Audition Process

Congratulations to the members of the SRU Flutr Studio on their accomplishments at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention Master Class Competition!

Taylor Pastore and Nicole Laborie (alum), were both selected as competition winners and Ben Bellomo was named an alternate in a very competitive field.

Their dedication and musicianship are evident, and this recognition is well deserved. Congratulations to all! Please show them some serious LOVE! ❤️

✨ Honors Flute Ensemble | New Music Spotlight ✨

This year’s Honors Flute Ensemble will bring to life “Entre Tempos,” a powerful new work by , written specifically for our ensemble.

🎶 Entre Tempos (“Between Moments”)
for flute ensemble, two solo flutes, and electronics

Featuring driving grooves, shifting meters, bold rhythmic energy, and moments of lyrical reflection, Entre Tempos challenges performers to move fluidly between intensity and expression.

The title Entre Tempos reflects the heart of the music… a constant negotiation between tempos, styles, and expressive states. Inspired by rock and blues energy, subtle Brazilian rhythmic influences, and innovative tempo relationships, the work captures a feeling of motion, transformation, and existing “between times.” With electronics and featured soloists and , this is a rare opportunity to perform cutting-edge repertoire written for YOU.
