Grateful.

If there was one word to sum up the last year and 4 months it's grateful. I'm grateful for all the mentors, educators, friends, and leaders. I'm grateful for all the friends I've made this year. I'm grateful to have the privilege to share sound and vibration with others and most importantly, I'm grateful for Balance Fitness Studio for giving me the opportunity to bring this to others.

It's Monday. Let's keep our hips happy this week with a mobility Tree. This can be done at any time during the day but is a great option for a quick break from a desk or to loosen up after some travel.

Today's short and sustainable practice is brought to in the form of a simple flow. This practice keeps it short and simple but allows for expansion of repetitions and longer holds in the breath.

This can also be done from seated.

What do we do on snow days? We practice of course.

"Mindful Movement" is an evidence based class created for the Smithville Senior Center. This class is a combination of mindfulness practices ranging from breath work, somatic movement, Yoga, Tai Chi, and now I'm excited to add the element of Qigong to the mix.

Hey all! It's snowing where I'm at. I keep reminding myself that it's normal and supposed to snow in December but somehow, I'm still not really ready for this snow. Today's brought to y'all in the form of a cup of tea.

Lately, I've been finding myself reaching for this tea since fall kicked in. It's nothing fancy and not overly hard to make, yet it warms and soothes in a way that makes you feel like this is truly a labor of love to make.

If you're craving something warm and cozy, give this a try. 🕉️✌️

Added mindfulness: When you are making this tea, do nothing else but focus on process. Take time to select your cup, enjoy combining the ingredients, take a few cycles of box breath while the tea is steeping, and most importantly, note your first sip of tea. Turn this in a moment for yourself.

Ingredients:
1 cinnamon tea bag or loose leaf. Decaf or caffeinated, it's up to you. I used the Bigelow Hot Cinnamon.
1/2 of a lemon juiced.
Ginger to taste. I use fresh ginger with a micro-plane. I'm sure this could work with a bit of powder or in pre-grated ginger.

Mix the lemon and the ginger together in your mug.
Make your tea. Allow the team to steep for the recommended time or your preference on taste. (I go a couple minutes) Give it a stir and enjoy.

Not to knock the lights - they are beautiful but this is a pretty intense G4 solar storm. Not only can it affect electronics (yay, my Bluetooth is wacked out this morning) but it can affect you. (Don't worry, I'm not selling anything - that's not my style)

Be aware and mindful of what your body needs - fatigue, amplified tinnitus, unsettled bursts of energy, headaches are all common during this time.

Tips:
Hydrate.
Ground (if too cold to put feet on the earth, try a grounding mat or a slower practice like yin)
Meditation.
Slow and intentional movements through a regular yoga practice.
Create.
Rest.

This shall pass but take care of you. 🕉️✌️

Let's practice some box breath this week. Discreet, easy, and one of my favorites. 🕉️✌️
