Alberta House Early Intervention

Alberta House Early Intervention What is Early Intervention? Early intervention supports a child’s
learning and development during the
important time from birth to three
years of age.

Professionals provide ideas on how you can best help promote your child’s development. The Family Infant Toddler (FIT) Program
is located within the New Mexico
Department of Health. The FIT Program
provides supports and services to
children who have or who are at risk
for developmental delay, and their
families. This program is responsible for
making sure that the requirements of the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
(IDEA) are carried out in New Mexico. Part C of IDEA applies to children age
birth to three. The FIT Program offers supports and
services to families through early
intervention provider agencies across
New Mexico. These agencies are funded
through a combination of state and
federal funds, including Medicaid and
health insurance. No family will ever be
turned away because of inability to pay
for supports and services.

🎃👻 Spooky Fun for Little Hands! 👻🎃

Halloween is the perfect time to mix creativity with developmental play!

Simple art activities—like these adorable Halloween handprints—help build fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, language, and sensory awareness. Whether it’s painting a pumpkin, Frankenstein, or a silly spider, every squish and giggle helps your child learn and grow!

Try this at home:
•Talk about colors and shapes 🔶🟣⬛️🔻
•Count fingers and features (“How many eyes does your monster have?”) 👀
•Encourage storytelling (“What’s your pumpkin’s name?”)

Early learning happens through play—and every little masterpiece is a step toward big developmental milestones!

🌟 The Power of Early Intervention 🌟

Every child grows and learns at their own pace — but when a child shows signs of developmental delay, early support can make all the difference. 💛

Early intervention helps children build essential skills in communication, movement, learning, and social-emotional development. The earlier we identify and support a child’s needs, the greater their chances for success at home, in school, and in life.

If you ever have concerns about your child’s development — trust your instincts and reach out. Talking to your pediatrician or local early intervention program is the first step. 💬

Every milestone matters. Every child deserves the best possible start. ✨
