As many of you know most of my childhood summers were spent in a village north of Nome, Alaska.

My heart has always felt like a piece of it was left in that village. Alot of growing up and change happened there for me. And many others too!

When i first began going to the villages in that area it was 1978. At that time there was no school. I saw first hand how it hurt the kids to have to go to boarding school for the school year. Some kids loved it, some just wanted to stay home with their families.

I haven’t been able to go back to my home village for a visit since 1989. I miss it, i dream about it one day!!

Looking back on all those summers as a kid. I never realized how lucky I actually had it. I lived in the city with my mom and i had everything I ever wanted!! Quite frankly i was spoiled. Yet these kids year after year I would watch struggle with real life struggles i never even imagined. And the accomplishments my peers have made are nothing short of amazing.

For these reasons and a million more i have decided to give back to this tiny village community!
