Using smartCRUTCH this winter? Don’t let the cold slow you down.

Gloves can totally work with your smartCRUTCH—just make sure they don’t mess with your grip or control. A few quick tips:

✨ Go for grip. Choose gloves with textured or rubberized palms so your hands stay secure on the handles.
✨ Mittens = maybe. They’re warm, but they can reduce dexterity. Test them first to make sure you can hold your crutches confidently.
✨ Cold + wet weather? Make sure your gloves actually improve your grip, not make things slippery.
✨ Check your setup. Thicker gloves can change how you hold the handle—adjust your smartCRUTCH angle if needed for comfort and control.
✨ Skip smooth leather. Anything too slick can cause slipping.
✨ If it feels unsafe, it is unsafe. Swap gloves until you find a pair that works.

Excessive weight bearing on a traditional crutch saddle can cause restriction and damage to the Axilla artery, nerves, tendons and soft tissue found in the axilla (armpit).

With smartCRUTCH, transfer of weight to the forearm reduces the pressure up to six times. 15-90 degree settings gives you choices with the twist of a dial. Use as a cane, comfy forearm crutch, or as a platform crutch.

ometimes we are asked if smartCRUTCH can be used safely both indoors and outdoors.

Yes, you can! This is due to our replaceable rubber tips. The hour-glass shaped foot maximizes ground contact regardless of the leg position. The piece is made from rubber and is unique in design, allowing the rubber to angulate in all directions during the transfer to the ground, ensuring horizontal adherence on the non-skid flat tread to the ground at all times. This provides a far more secure hold than conventional crutch tips, adding to the increased feel of confidence the crutches give on various surfaces. We do sell tip covers with studs for use on ice or snow and flex versions for additional give.
