Last Saturday's re-cap from my final show. It's long I know, but well worth the few minutes....
The early morning begins with a heavy rainfall as I drive to the Trinity Christian Craft Fair. I follow the GPS as I pray to arrive there safely.
Upon turning onto Rt. 47, I suddenly remember the dreaded construction that lie ahead. I fear I won't be able to see the barrel detours clearly enough to follow the winding roads. I begin to freak a bit and so begin to pray for His help. Low and behold, the rain entirely stops just long enough for the construction portion of the road to end. Jesus literally took the wheel!
After my thank-you prayer, I follow up with my standard; " Lord, please allow me to reach out to anyone who needs me today."
Arrive safely, set up for the show, and am eager to start my day.
I must admit, I start feeling bummed. Despite being greeted by very polite customers, they aren't particularly interested in hearing from me. I get a lot of smiles as they abruptly walk away. One woman even suggests her child move onto the next booth. She then confides that her husband has stage four colon cancer & I would most likely upset her daughter.
I think, "Why am I even here? People are not flocking to my booth as I had hoped, and am not doing any good whatsoever. I should have just stayed home."
When no sooner, a gentleman walks by and intently listens to my story. Afterwards he says he's an Infectious Disease doctor and understands the significance of my amazing healing and shakes my hand. I mention how I still remember MY I.D.S. was Dr. Lucks. "Dr. David Lucks?" he says. "Yes that's him!" "He's retired now, but I know David!" he replies with a big smile. "Please tell Dr. Lucks that I'm alive and kicking", as I hand the friendly man my business card as a form of re-connecting the two of us.
Next a woman walks by, listens to my story, and divulges that her friend recently had a double mastectomy. She then grabs her friend who is passing by, " You MUST listen to this story!" As I'm giving her words of encouragement, her friend announces she is going to buy the book for her. I further explain the importance of prayer and of having a cheerleader. The woman with cancer asks me if she can hug me as many tears are shed. I now know the reason for this "nudge" to participate in this particular show.
Please say a prayer for Karen as she is to begin her first chemo treatment on Tuesday.
Oh BTW.... when requesting a pic of the two of them, she hails the rest of her cheering squad. My heart just melts as I witness the true love of friends that God has obviously sent her.
A little girl accompanies her mother as she patiently waits for Mom to get a signed copy. I'm so impressed, I decide to gift her a children's scarf. She's thrilled by this so lovely Vivian posses for a pic:)
All in all, it was great send off to my scarf venture and have re-confirmed that God has a plan for each of us in every detail of our life!
