Hi there!
My name is Sam Zarbock. I'm a new pediatrician here at CopperView Medical Center. I grew up in Draper, Utah and have just recently moved back. I went to medical school at Rocky Vista University down in St. George, Utah. After medical school, I went to pediatric residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin (Go Badgers!). I'm now back home and am excited to be a pediatrician here in the beautiful state of Utah.
My wife (Haley, who also grew up in Draper) and I have 4 kids ages 8, 5, 3 and 7 months--3 girls, 1 boy. I enjoy pickleball, squash, ping pong, snow skiing AND snowboarding, cooking, audiobooks, drawing, and home renovation. I love Star Wars, Marvel superheroes, DC superheroes, Pokemon, Avatar the last Airbender, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, and many other franchises/comics/video games. I also enthusiastically support the Utah Jazz! I am hoping for a good season this year (like you are too, I'm sure). More than anything, I love working with children and young adults--and their parents, of course.
I hope to see you and your children at CopperView soon!

🎉 Big news in the office… our fearless leader is PREGNANT! 🤰 Most of our patients know her — Jessica has been with CopperView for 19 years! 😍
That’s right — the woman who already raised three amazing girls (with the baby of the bunch now 16!) is jumping back into the world of diapers, midnight feedings, and baby snuggles. Talk about a plot twist none of us saw coming! 😂💗
We’re so excited for her and can’t wait to meet the newest member of the work family. Now the real question is…

Though many of us may not realize the grave disparities that exist in our own communities, they could be our neighbors, kids in our children's classes, even our own family members.

Did you know that 288,970 UTAH residents are facing food insecurity and hunger and are at risk for missing a meal today? That equates to 1 out of 11 humans face hunger daily.
Of those 288,970 humans, 1 out of 9 UTAH CHILDREN are unsure of where their next meal is going to come from, every single day.

1 in 9 children in Utah face the pain and stress of hunger. Food-deprived children not only feel the physical pain of an empty tummy, but when an empty tummy makes it hard to concentrate in school, it hurts their future, too. Hungry children are more likely to be chronically absent from school, and when they do attend, have a hard time concentrating. These children often feel powerless, afraid and hopeless, and all too often what little food they can access isn’t enough to provide the nutrition their developing bodies need.

Children facing hunger are more likely to be hospitalized and suffer physical, emotional and developmental impairment. All of this makes education—a central means of obtaining financial security—far more difficult. The long-term effects are especially costly; adults who experience hunger as children are less well-prepared mentally, emotionally, physically and socially to perform in today’s workforce and educational environments. And then, the cycle repeats itself...
