People ask me why I say release weight instead of lose weight.

When we release, it’s gone.

When we lose, we find it again.

When you’ve dieted a hundred times, you know what I am talking about.

If you’re on medication fearing what happens when you stop, you also know what I’m talking about.

You can lose weight but it’s never really gone. There’s always the fear.

So I am talking to you, my fellow yo-yo dieters, and the rise of GLP-1 users.

I don’t think any of us wants to be beholden to one thing for the rest of our lives.

And whether you’re seeking to stick with a healthier new lifestyle, or you’re utilizing GLP-1 as a tool...

What needs to happen is actually MUCH deeper.

On my 43rd birthday I’m celebrating that I’ll still head down a mountain sideways with a board strapped to my feet.

Thank you to my partner Micheale for supporting this 😂

I also had cake for breakfast 🎉

Food isn’t just nourishment, it’s also tradition and experiential.

However… when I know that protein and fiber help balance blood sugar and manage your appetite, I start with a small plate of scrambled eggs and salad.

The old me would say f-it it’s my birthday I do what I want. Gimme the cake and none of the “healthy stuff.”

The today me says, How can I make this fun AND safe for my body?

That’s true self-care and enjoyment that led to an awesome day without a crash… both a sugar crash and a snowboard related crash 😂

We had 1/3 of a cord of wood dumped in our driveway . I questioned my life choices. And then I took it log by log. Step by step. Small goal after small goal.

Estimating how many logs there were and counting as I put them away.

Imagining them put away and guessing how much space they’d take up.

Picking up each one and celebrating my strength as I did it.

Acknowledging the pure grit I needed to make it happen.

This is how we keep going.

Decide it’s happening.
Imagine the end.
Break it down into smaller parts.
Use positive self-talk.
Notice what strength you’re bringing to the process.

And when it’s done… Look back and remember where you started!

Weight Watchers
Beach Body
Calorie Counting
Carb Limiting
Losing weight
Being skinny

What I commit to now:
Eating to feel good
Exercising to feel strong
Sleeping to have energy
Enhancing my relationships
Gaining life
Being the best version of myself

Both paths helped me manage my weight.

Only one path was sustainable.
