I no longer pray to hear God's voice.

I pray to hear mine.

Because when I hear my own voice it means that despite all of my wounds

I'm still here:
seeking asking fighting loving

maybe for me,

God is a canyon wall that I get to echo my shaking voice off of
and maybe that is all I need right now.

Monday reminder: No one has it all figured out. No one.

The idea of wholeness and becoming whole is a big part of many personal and spiritual growth spaces. It has me wondering what people think when they hear the word.

So I ask you…. What do you think it means to become whole? Or what do you feel in your body when you consider the word?

What do you think are the benefits of becoming whole?

Or do you think the whole (pun intended 🤪) idea is confusing?

This was such a fun interview!

I wanted to come off of my chair when said “unstoppable” but then I remembered we were on camera. 🎥

Our dreams carry messages from our deepest self.

What have you been dreaming of?

Your body is a wise ass - like the cutie pictured below 🫏— and sometimes your ass hurts. 🤣

Other times, it just won’t do what you want it to do.
The question is: how do you treat your body when that happens?

Most of us have learned to fix, fight, or judge our bodies — to push harder, to power through, to treat our bodies like machines that keep breaking down.

But your body isn’t just a machine.

It’s your animal — wild, intelligent, sacred, and deeply wise.

It’s constantly communicating with you. Do you hear it? Can you feel it? It tells you when something’s off, gives you clues about what/who you like and don't and often mirrors unconscious feelings that need attention.

Your body wants to be your ally, not your enemy. It’s time to connect with her wisdom.

Join me for The Wisdom of Your Body -
a two-part series on learning to understand, trust, and befriend your body — including your symptoms.

You’ll walk away with simple, powerful tools for tuning in to your body’s messages and responding with tenderness instead of control.

It’s time to transform you realtionship with your body.

Our bodies are a strong channel of connection to our Deepest Self.

With all of the fixing, diagnosing, judging and pushing we do, we often miss the chance to connect more deeply with the incredible well of wisdom our bodies hold.

Most of us have been taught to view the body as just a machine.

We were taught that the intellgience of our mind is better and stronger than the body’s intelligence, which is so sad and oppressive to the body.

Do you engage with your brilliant body in a way that treats it like the ally that it is rather than just a machine?

Do you ask it questions? Learn its language?

Do you work on your conflict with your body in a way that hears your body’s voice rather than simply trying to dominate and control it?

How do you speak to it?

Our bodies need compassionate witnessing AND they need to be engaged with.

Here are a couple of small ways to start:

🌟What is one compassionate thing you can say to your body today?

If something hurts, try saying “oh sweatheart, I feel you. I’m so sorry you are hurting.”

Hold space for that hurt for a few moments rather than trying to hurry up and fix it. Notice what it is like to be present with your body this way.

🌟Or you can ask it a question: first, take a few breaths allowing yourself to turn your attention inward. Roll your head around or stretch if it helps you relax a little.

Then ask, “how is your hurt? Tell me more about your hurting.”

For example: Let’s say your feet hurt. Try engaging with your feet. It might sound like this, “oh you poor feet, you are so achy. Tell me all about your aching.”

Or “dear feet, why are you bothering me?” might feel truer to how you are relating to your feet in the moment. Then listen. Notice what arises. Write it down.

Yes, I am asking you to dialogue with your feet! 😁

I know this all might sound unusual and it might feel silly AF at first, but if you are willing to experiment, please do.

If the usual isn’t working for you, the unusual just might free you a bit! 🙃

You might be surprised to discover there is MORE to you than you think.

Start engaging your body in a deeper way.

Let me know how it goes. ☺️

One way to explore this is to consider how you were parented and how you parent yourself.

Even if you had a tender, loving mother or father, you can still be so hard on yourself because of the lack of tenderness in the greater societal language.

Our culture lacks the voice of tenderness. It prefers the push hard and push through language. It is unbalanced.

We need more compassion and nurturing.

Start by asking yourself: How do I treat myself when I am struggling? Do I blame myself? Diagnosis and analyze myself? Compare myself to others?

Or do I practice self-compassion and meet myself with gentleness, curiosity and understanding?

Be gentle with whatever your answers reveal. There are no right or wrong answers. These questions are about knowing yourself more not judging or grading yourself.

So much healing can be found in the way you treat yourself when you struggle.

For me, at least a few minutes of self-compassion is a daily necessity, although I sometimes forget! It offers me sanctuary in a chaotic world, and it helps me connect to a restorative tenderness and care.

Contrary to the cultural view that self-compassion is weak, it actually makes me stronger.

And it’s not just me. Researcher, Kristin Neff writes, “A meta-analysis of 136 studies found that when faced with stressful experiences like earthquakes, bullying, cancer, or the COVID pandemic, self-compassion helps us deal with our distress and take action to address problems in a more productive and effective manner.”

Given that we are bombarded daily with frightening news (planes crashing, fires, terrorist attacks, alarming social and political issues)on top of our own personal struggles, we need self-compassion more than ever.

So how do you do it?

In a world that teaches you to distract, numb, be hard on yourself and, in essence, abandon yourself, it’s so important to know how to turn toward yourself with loving care instead. Doing so does indeed build strength.

Join me for my upcoming class The Healing Power of Self Compassion and I will teach you more about self-compassion, its benefits and how to actually do it.

Stopped by for an interview with . We chatted about the inner critic. Interview coming soon.

For now, I thought you might like a moment of zen.

As I was leaving the station I paused briefly to take in the pond. I like seeing the gazebo and water…. and today the upside down boat caught my attention. 🤔

What kind of a scenes inspire you to pause?

Do NOT listen to messages that imply you struggle because you are not aligned with your soul or a higher power. Do NOT listen to such bu****it.

If this were true, then it seems Jesus and every other prophet on the planet was not aligned with their soul or purpose because all of them struggled.

Struggle is part of the human condition. I am not saying it is the only part but it gets marginalized and judged as if struggle means wrong.

How you treat yourself when you struggle is important. We are bombarded with so many messages that imply if we do xyz then we will not struggle.

Try saying some of these compassionate phrases to yourself when you are experiencing times of struggle or suffering. Go slow.

🌟Sweetheart, this is really hard. Your struggle doesn’t mean you are doing something all wrong. It is ok when things are hard. Not fun but ok.

🌟Most people experience suffering or times of struggle. You are not alone, dear.

🌟I am here. I am with you. It is safe to struggle here with me. Tell me everything. I won’t bombard you with advice, tell you you need to do things different or that you are sabotaging yourself or that you aren’t following the right steps. I won’t tell you that you created this struggle because you aren’t aligned or because your vibration is low or some other bu****it. I will hold you in the presence of LOVE because if you are alive, you have every right to struggle. I trust your struggle. I’m listening.
