This is something that i hear all the time as a therapist. This idea that we cannot take a break comes from a part of us that is exhausted, overwhelmed and fatigued. The part of us that feels as though maybe we can't ask for help or dissuade us from having a balanced life.​​​​​​​​

Working from a place of exhaustion has been normalized, This idea that we must continue working through our fatigue, burnout and overwhelm. Sometimes it may even feel we spend all of our time taking care of others, leaving no time to take care of ourselves.​​​​​​​​

What does this way of being tell us emotionally? ​​​​​​​​

Manifestation! We hear this word thrown around so much, what what does it actually mean? This is some of the nueroscience behind it.​​​​​​​​

Research by Dr. Carol Dweck clearly shows that believing you can do something makes it more likely that you'll successfully do it. That means that our beliefs about our ability to learn, grow, and succeed—our growth mindset—can indeed affect whether we effectively manifest what we desire.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Importantly, this research suggests that if we truly believe we can achieve something, we are willing to do the hard work to achieve it. This is in contrast to law-of-attraction style manifestation which suggests that belief alone is enough to bring about manifestation. Ultimately, the science suggests that our beliefs bring about behaviors (and responses from others) that lead to the outcomes we desire.​​​​​​​​

So this week Kalm encourages you to focus on something you would like to shift, change or grow, giving some attention to it here and there (not ruminating on it or obsessing) and just see what shifts, maybe you don't get the sports car but you begin to think you are worthy of an adventure! Three places to keep your calm tools that just makes sense. Do you ever have that moment when you realize you need to take a mindful moment but you don’t have anything to ground too?

Maybe you’re in a public place, transitioning spaces or maybe that annoyance just happened so quick you don’t even have time to react.
