General information

On Jan 11, 2012 @ 2:30 pm, me and my fiancee were heading to a baby appointment. We were going only 25mph on a 45mph zone. There was a shady spot on the road, didn't know until after passing it that it was ice covered in snow. My fiancee lost control of our car, a '98 chevy blazer. We then spun into a telephone pole (passenger side hit it dead on). My fiancee backed up and got out, heading over to my side, while calling 911. The fire truck was the first at the site, were they had to use the "jaws of life" to get the passenger side door open. They then put a neck brass on me and got me onto the stretcher. They soon got me into the car and rushed me to holy family hospital. I was 20 weeks at the time. I left the hospital 6 days later, with a right broken collar bone, broken right shoulder blade and 4 broken ribs on my right side. I was ok tell feb 1, 2012. I woke up at 10 am to go to the bathroom and I saw I had blood everywhere. My mother called 911. They came, took vital signs, looked at the blood, and put me on the stretcher once again. And again I was rushed to holy family hospital. I was 23 weeks in the first. I spent 4 days, with bleeding and really bad contractions, at holy family. My cervix shortened from one day to the next. My bleeding stopped the day after I got there, but started again on the 4th, they then decided to transfer me to sacred heart women's health center, were the had a greater NICU than holy family. I was transferred at 11 pm. I got to the hospital with really bad contractions. But my cervix didn't shorten anymore. They did a ultrasound and it looked like had many "holes" in my placenta. On the morning of the 7th, at 12 pm I was given a steroid shot to help the development of my sons lungs, but not even 20 minutes later I started pucking and my nurse wanted to make sure my cervix didn't shorten, but I was fully dilated with a bulging sac. I was then rushed into the c-section room @ 1 pm, because the Baby was breach. The put me to sleep, and at 1:58 pm, Damian peirce Bassett was born weighing 1 lb 1.3 oz, 10 in long. He was rushed up to the NICU. I woke up from the Medication they gave me to a empty room, but than a nurse came in with my fiancee. I didn't get to see Damian tell midnight that night.
