Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation of resuscitation training for healthcare professionals including nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, and other healthcare and public safety personnel. BLS program content includes single-and multiple-responder CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automatic external defibrillator) use, as well as how to care for a patient who has an obstructed airway (choking).

Did you know: only 50% of people can locate an automated external defibrillator (AED)?

With 10,000 cardiac arrests annually in the workplace, knowing this small piece of information has the potential to save thousands of lives.

Did you know Advocates have encouraged placements of AEDs in public buildings, transportation centers and large offices or apartment buildings. Several states have proposed or adopted legislation requiring the placement of AEDs in health clubs and gyms, school athletic events or settings, and other public spaces

Next time you go out to a public place do me a favor a locate any AEDS. 🚨

Adults,👨‍🦰 children👧 and infants 👨🏼‍🍼 have different needs when it comes to CPR.

A child’s physiology, musculature, bone density and strength are different from an adult’s.
CPR is performed differently. In fact, if adult CPR is performed on a child, it could do more harm than good.

The idea of performing CPR on an Adult, child or infant can be frightful.
Although I hope that you’ll never be called upon to perform CPR on a child, it’s important to understand the very significant differences between the three types of CPR so you can be ready.

What is an AED and how is it used?

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a medical device designed to analyze the heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock to victims of ventricular fibrillation to restore the heart rhythm to normal. Ventricular fibrillation is the uncoordinated heart rhythm most often responsible for sudden cardiac arrest.

First thing you must do as soon as the AED arrives is TURN IT ON!!!!!!! And follow audio instructions.
