︎Maternity leave update 🌿 Hi all! Long time, no check-in. After a run in with COVID, I’m back on my feet and out of quarantine — yay! As you can imagine, this complicated my booking schedule a bit. I’ll officially be starting my maternity leave in mid-August. Since I had to unexpectedly cancel all of my appointments for a couple of weeks, I opened up some extra availability on my schedule over the next month or so. There isn’t an abundance of time available, so if you’d like to get in one more time before I start my leave, hop on over to that link in my bio to book!

I will be tentatively returning from my maternity leave in early 2022. If you have an outstanding gift certificate that expires before then (ie Christmas 2020), and you can’t make it in for a massage before my leave starts, I will continue to honor that gift certificate through May of 2022. If you have any questions regarding outstanding gift certificates, feel free to shoot me a text— my phone number is in my bio.

If you’re a current client and you would like my list of local massage therapists recommendations while I’m on my leave, also please send me a text. There are so many incredible bodyworkers in the Springfield area and I’m confident we can find a good fit for you while I’m out of the office.

If you have any other questions regarding my leave, sending me a quick text is the best mode of contact for me right now— feel free to reach out!

Thanks for all your understanding and patience as I’m tying up loose ends around here over the next month. 🙏🏼 When I’m not working at Exhale, I’m a stay at home mom who tries my very best to be present with my kiddo— if I don’t get back with you right away, that’s why! I appreciate your understanding as I wrap things up and figure out how to honor both my clients and my own family well during these next months. 🤍✨

“I’m here to help you heal.”

This is something I often find myself mentally saying to your muscles during your massage.

A little woo-woo? Yeah, maybe.
Do I feel like it helps me set my intentions as your massage therapist as I’m working and relay those intentions to your body? Yeah, maybe.

It’s not a premeditated or conscious thought in my head when I find myself sending the thought to your body. It’s instinctive.

I’m here to help you heal.

For the same reasons I don’t consider myself a healer— I believe our bodies WANT to heal themselves. Sometimes they just need permission to. They need a guide. Someone to say, it’s okay; you can do this; I’m here.

I’m here to heal you heal.
I’m here to provide a safe space.
I’m here to assist your body to unlearn chronic holding patterns that don’t serve you.
I’m here to gently and softly remind you that you deserve this time of care.
I’m here to release those muscle groups that can’t remember how to release themselves.
I’m here to hold space for you.
I’m here to help you heal.
I’m here.

I’m working a limited schedule during the months of July and August before I start my maternity leave. I recommend you booking your massages in advance! Book one last massage with me (or 2 or 3 or 4) before I take a few months off with my fam. My booking link is in my bio.

Hello friends! Long time, no post. Awhile ago, I mentioned I was taking a step back from this social media space and limiting my schedule a bit, and this is one of the reasons why...I’m pregnant! 💛🌿

I’m about halfway through my pregnancy and thought it might be time to give you an update.

My tentative plan as of right now is to work through the end of August, and then take an extended maternity leave through the end of 2021. I’m planning on working again January of 2022, so I’ll still be selling my holiday gift certificates so you can get your people the gift of self-care at Christmastime. ♥️

Gift cards will still be available online during my maternity leave to use when I come back in January.

If you have any packages that you want to use up, book in advance! I’m booking out several weeks in advance as of right now. If you have a package or gift certificate that expires during my maternity leave, I will absolutely honor it after if you can’t make it in in time.

All of this could possibly change depending on how I’m feeling, but I wanted to fill you all in on the plan as of right now.

As always, thank you for all the support. I couldn’t do this without you! ✨

Cupping • cupping • cupping
!!!!
Yay— myofascial cupping therapy! You may remember me talking about some changes happening around here, and I am so thankful for your patience as I have had some big life changes in my own life as well. 🌿🤍

But for now, CUPPING!! I did a training through Wellspring School of Allied Health in Cupping Therapy for Myofascial Decompression back in December of 2020, and received a certification. Now I’m ready to put it on my service menu.

Myofascial cupping therapy is a modern adaptation of an ancient bodywork practice which originally came from Traditional Chinese Medicine. During a cupping session, glass or plastic cups and a vacuum machine are used to lift and separate layers of muscle and fascia. Used as a deep tissue therapy, you may have seen cupping marks before on athletes. Cupping is unique because it is one of the only “decompressive” bodywork therapies that we can use, so while the benefits function in similar ways to therapeutic massage, the effects of a “decompressive” therapy can lead to a great response from “trapped” or hypertonic muscle and fascial tissue. Cupping therapy is known as a great pain relief to many who experience chronic pain. Some other benefits of cupping therapy include joint mobilization, lymph drainage, athletic performance enhancement, and, perhaps most commonly used for, relief of tight muscles.

I’ll be offering a cupping add-on to your regular massage session, as well as cupping as a stand-alone service. Book at the link in my bio now!

Hiya! Long time, no post. Maybe you noticed I took a step away from this space, or maybe not. Either way— I’m back! 🤍 Life has been a little crazy around here (ya feel me?) and faithfully keeping up with social media had to take the back burner for a little while. Just wanted to pop by here and say I’m still workin away at Exhale taking massage appointments— busier than ever, really, which I’m so thankful for! 🙏🏼 My availability will be changing a bit for a temporary time over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out on that, and make sure you’re booking out a week or two in advance to make sure to get on my schedule. I’ll be checking in on here a little more often with some exciting updates! 🌀 Stay tuned. 〰

You may have noticed a couple of changes to my booking site or website. ⚡️ They’re intentional!
I’ve changed a few things around here, and I’m quite excited about it.

First of all, you may notice the Swedish relaxation massage and therapeutic massage are no longer options for booking a massage with me. They have now combined into The Exhale Signature Massage. 🙏🏼

Why this change? It can be confusing for new clients to know what kind of massage to book at their first appointment. Even for regular clients, it can be a difficult and not entirely necessary choice between the two.

Hmmm.... do I want therapeutic work on my sore areas or do I want to relax?

Both/And. 🤍

All of my massages (therapeutic and Swedish) are and have always been completely customized to the client’s needs. Some clients are looking for specific work on one area of the body, some want a full body relaxation massage with no deeper work, and some want a combination of the two.

Combining my two primary massage services into one allows me to tailor your session EVEN MORE to your individual needs. I have always offered intuitive and nurturing massage therapy, and combining the therapeutic and Swedish massages into one combination massage service (the signature massage) gives me the space for completely intuitive and unique bodywork for each individual client. So basically, we’re simplifying things a bit!

Oh, and also— you’ll find that I now offer deep tissue massage. 🌀👊🏻 30 and 60 minute deep tissue is now available for booking at the link in my bio!

Questions about these changes? Let me know below or send me a message! ✨

A Sunday reminder:
You belong.

May you be happy, nourished, and known.
May you sense your deep, deep belonging.
May you find peace and rest in that.
May you find healing in that belonging space.

Happy Friday, friends! 〰 May this weekend bring rest + feelings of home into your life.

I’ve been spending some time meditating on this Mary Oliver poem and wanted to share. ⤵️

〰Leaves and Blossoms Along the Way〰

“If you’re John Muir you want trees
to live among. If you’re Emily, a garden
will do.
Try to find the right place for yourself.
If you can’t find it, at least dream of it.

When one is alone and lonely, the body
gladly lingers in the wind or the rain,
or splashes into the cold river, or
pushes through the ice-crusted snow.

Anything that touches.

God, or the gods, are invisible, quite
understandable. But holiness is visible,
entirely.

Some words will never leave God’s mouth,
no matter how hard you listen.

In all the works of Beethoven, you will
not find a single lie.

All important ideas must include the trees,
the mountains, and the rivers.

To understand many things, you must reach out
of your own condition.

For how many years did I wander slowly
through the forest. What wonder and
glory I would have missed had I ever been
in a hurry!

Beauty can both shout and whisper, and still
it explains nothing.

The point is, you’re you, and that’s for keeps.”

Whether you’re whispering it quietly to yourself or shouting it into the universe, I invite you to take this affirmation...

Whether you’re whispering it quietly to yourself or shouting it into the universe, I invite you to take this affirmation with me today.

I am grounded.
I am rooted.
I am safe in my body.

I am supported by the earth.
I am here.
I am present.
I am walking on solid and secure ground.
I am connected to the earth.
I am safe to show up in my fullness.
I am.
I am.
I am.

I took today’s sunshine as an invitation to slip off my shoes and move through a walking meditation while grounding my feet into the earth. The dead grass and leaves in my yard reminded me of the fleeting and uncertain and confusing nature of this life, but the stillness and connection to the earth led my thoughts into a soft and kind self-compassion and love. Grounded. Rooted. Safe.

May we all feel connected to the core of our beings and the core of the earth. For grounding, for purpose, for security, for warmth and comfort.

Rooted.
Grounded.
Safe.

I am.
I am.
I am.
