We’re starting the year strong with another awesome Social SPOT event! Our athletes have been working so hard in the CrossFit gym, now it’s time to showcase your strength and confidence in a new kind of gym! In collaboration with CHD, we’re heading to Central Rock Gym for Adaptive Rock Climbing!

We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break, BUT, we hope you all enjoyed getting back into the gym!!

Meet Garrett – Our December Athlete SPOT-light!

Garrett is one of our newest athletes, joining our Tuesday Class crew in November of this year. Despite his short time with us, he has made great gains and is already so loved by our AF community!

Check out some of Garrett’s highlights:

Here at The SPOT, we have a 4-tiered approach for greater success for our athletes:

1. Engagement - Our athletes need to feel safe and comfortable in order for us as coaches to gain their ‘buy-in’ to the challenges we place on them. For some, walking into the gym is hard enough! That’s why we always start with engaging our athletes in actives they enjoy and are confident in!

2. Positioning - Before we add equipment and higher level skills, we focus on body positioning and postural control for functional movements that we use in -AND- outside the gym.

3. Motor planning - Next, we start to sequence singular actions into more complex multi-step movements. We scaffold and slowly build up the complexity and their confidence! Executive functioning and motor planning for the win!

4. Accuracy - Lastly, we refine our athlete’s movement until it’s smooth, fluid, and completed with ease. And you guessed it- once we’ve reached this phase, we start back at the beginning with a new skill!
