The things I think about:

I rarely use my front door. After taking out the trash which is on the street in front of the house I happened to glance up to see this.

My first thought was was - shame on me! How could I have let our national flag become so weathered, torn and faded to this sorry state?!
And then a deeper meaning began to surface as I saw the analogy to my own spiritual existence.
Of course the timing of this experience is not lost on me, as it happens in the wake of so much hatred and violence that has been building and finally climaxing with the murder of a prominent young public figure with a voice for peace.
It’s one of those ah-ha moments.

I am weathered, torn and faded.

I need a new flag and a spiritual revival…in me.

The things I think about:

As I was wasting precious time and life experience scrolling on social media (FB and instagram) I noticed the down- right evil undercurrent of division so cleverly disguised at times and clearly blatant at others. Some posts are clearly hate filled from the get go, using fake AI imagery to create false scenarios to propagate and inflame negative emotions. They are obvious and I move on quickly. But what is very disturbing is the so called “righteous” humanitarian posts that also evoke negativity in the name of kindness and love. The message I’m receiving and relating in turn is this:

MY TIME AND LIFE EXPERIENCE ARE PRECIOUS- SOCIAL MEDIA HAS BECOME A DUMPING GROUND OF HATE DESIGNED TO LURE PEOPLE AWAY FROM (REAL) JOY.

The things I think about…

I was listening to an interview with Father Richard Rohr. And in the introduction to his book Falling Upward he states that the meaning of life is:

“To humbly and proudly give back what you have been given.”

If his statement is true then let us all, who are not already doing so, begin today.

The things I think about…

Closets. Closets can be a physical analogy for the mind.
Often times they are disorganized, cluttered and messy.
We can close the door and keep things like (too many) shoes, bad habits, great boxes, painful memories and secrets locked away for years…where no one can see them.
But a closet can only hold so much “stuff” and one day you’ll begin to open the door ever so cautiously trying to retrieve or express a particular item or emotion and who knows what might happen?
Maybe something (or someone) gets broken, rediscovered, given purpose or finally let go… and discarded at last.

When this happens your closet may seem a little less dark with a little more space for “lighter” things that have earned a place on the top shelf. Or you get a new pair of boots with durable soles to blaze a different path…
Who knows? I suppose that depends on what you happen to have in your closet and if you’re willing to open the door and begin the process of purging and (finally) healing.

NORMAL
NORMALCY
BEING CONSIDERED NORMAL

Why is the idea of this concept now considered wrong if used to describe…
anything or any situation?
Maybe because the word SOCIAL has exploited it.
SOCIAL NORMS are now the NEW NORMAL.
Everything must be politically correct to avoid conflict.
There is no NORMAL because that would assume that some are NOT NORMAL and we can no longer do that in the name of…

I haven’t used this platform properly since the day it was created. My intention was to have a presence on social media for potential clients to investigate my services. Since then I’ve received warning from FB that I’m somehow “breaking the rules” although I’m not sure how this page is any different than my “personal” page. Perhaps FB wants a piece of the pie? Like I’m generating so much business from this page, they are entitled to a cut? Sorry, that is not the case. Moving forward I will continue to use this page to promote health and wellness on mental, physical and spiritual levels that are of my opinion as a Peer to Peer advocate for NAMI, yoga instructor, and follower of Christ. On any given day you may see content concerning any of these topics as they relate to me and my experience on this earth. It is my hope that through the sharing of these experiences others may benefit in some small way - or in BIG ways! Thank you for scrolling by. I hope it is and will continue to be uplifting, encouraging and helpful to you in some way.
