So this week has been long and exhausting but through the grace of God I got through it. I finished up my 3rd semester and 2nd residency toward my Ph.D all this week in addition to regular responsibilities and self-care. I am literally thrilled to almost officially be recognized as a Doctor in my field. I can't wait to start hosting my community health education courses and sessions! Celebrate the small victories everyone, you deserve it! Also my handsome son will be on billboards and a TV commercial for his awesome work in the St. Louis community as well. God is good!

Most of us don't even know that July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month because it's not televised and advertised as it should be! The movement started in 2008 to increase mental health awareness in the minority communities. Fact: Only 1 out 3 African Americans who need mental health care receive it! Mental health illness is scary but "You are not alone", millions of people suffer from mental illness but you have to know it's okay to get help and it's okay to not be okay! Check on your friends, family, neighbors and loved ones, no one should have to suffer through mental illness alone!
