Healthy Gut, Happy Life

Healthy Gut, Happy Life Certified Gut Practitioner - How to live your best life with a happy and healthy GUT So, here's a little bit about me. But I wasn't.

I'm on a mission to become a certified Gut Practitioner with the goal to help others, like myself, who want to live a happier life through a healthy gut! No matter if you're experienced in the area of gut health or not, I want to help you learn how to listen to your body and understand what it's telling you! With an extensive library of resources and a whole lot of passion we will determine goals, build a plan, and work towards a healthier gut and happier life TOGETHER. I started my health and wellness journey in 2014 just after getting married, buying a house, and starting a business with my family (sister, father, and husband at the time). I should have been happy, stress free, and loving life. I was 40 lbs overweight (at 5 ft. that's hard to hide), living off of fast food, and wasn't making time to get my body moving in an effective way. I decided it was time for change. I was sick of feeling like crap and treating those around me poorly because I was unhappy with myself. I was lucky enough to have the time and finances to get myself a personal trainer. I made exercise a part of my normal routine and I started to finally feel better but still had acne, bloat, and unable to regulate my emotions in a healthy way. Little did I know this was just a piece of my overall health and wellness. After several months, I felt confident about what I could achieve on my own without my personal trainer and that's when the holistic outlook on health and wellness really became my passion. I needed more than just taking care of my body through exercise. I knew something still wasn't quite right. Through my own research discovery, I learned more about how to nourish my gut, determine the most effective nutrients for my body and where to get them, how to manage my portions, and add variety to my microbiome to get my GUT healthy. Don't get me wrong, there have been plenty of ups and downs: a miscarriage, a divorce, a new partner - who supports me through it all, some depression, new jobs, moving away from my immediate family, two foot surgeries, new friends, new hobbies, and major life decisions. My point is life happens- to all of us- whether we are ready for it or not and what I do know to be a fact is that a healthy gut will help you manage stress (both good and bad) through all the curve ball and opportunities life throws at us. I'm ready to work with anyone who wants to feel better (when you FEEL better you look better) by learning more about your body, how to listen to it, and how to react to keep your gut healthy and your life happier

We know probiotics 🧬 are super good for your GUT but what are some of the best probiotic foods you can eat? Check out the list below.

🗣Probiotics can be a bit harder to get into our diet than prebiotics. If you're not already taking a probiotic- consider adding that to your daily routine! I've got the best one on the market available for you 🫵

⭐5 Super Healthy Probiotic Foods⭐

We tend to think of bacteria as a bad thing—and it can be. But our bodies typically have a combination of both good and bad bacteria.

Keeping a healthy balance of the two is key to good health. Having enough of the good bacteria, or probiotics, helps to fight off the bad bacteria when there’s too much of it. Not to mention, probiotics also improve digestion and generally boost your immune system.

While we have a certain amount of probiotics in our body naturally, we can increase the benefits by eating probiotic foods. Here are 5 super healthy probiotics to consider adding to your diet:

1. Yogurt: In addition to being high in protein and calcium, yogurt is also a good source of probiotics.
2. Sauerkraut: A type of fermented cabbage, sauerkraut is a popular side dish and condiment in many cultures today.
3. Kefir: Kefir is made of fermented milk and, while it’s similar to yogurt, it’s thinner in consistency and actually contains more probiotics than yogurt.
4. Kombucha: A type of fermented tea, kombucha is high in antioxidants and may help prevent conditions like diabetes and cancer.
5. Kimchi: A spicy side dish from Korea, kimchi can be made out of cabbage, radish, or cucumber and is flavored with a mix of seasonings. Its lactic acid bacteria is great for digestive health.

Its ! Here's a little bit about this wonderful Vitamin! Want the perfect products to add to your skin or nutritional routine? Drop a comment for more information on some of the best out there!

While Vitamin C is widely recognized for warding off colds, the vitamin is also clinically proven to be a powerhouse in other areas of health, too. For example, Vitamin C may reduce blood pressure and potentially lower the risk of heart disease. Those at risk of gout can lower that risk by increasing their intake of Vitamin C.

Topically, Vitamin C keeps skin healthy by protecting it from oxidative damage caused by daily exposure to light, heat, and pollution. The popularity of topical vitamin C products has risen dramatically.

With the right product, adding Vitamin C to your beauty regimen can brighten your skin, reduce inflammation, and promote healthy collagen production. Vitamin C brightens just about any health routine.

Went MIA there for a bit and had the most AMAZING family vacation. Stress free and spent much needed time with family.

Now that I'm back, it's time to get back to fueling my body and gut with all the best nutrition and getting my exercise back on track.

👉Did I stick to my nutrition 100% while I was in FL? NO
👉Did I worry about working out? NO
👉Did I fret about what I was eating? NO

Did I feel bad about letting go for a week and just enjoying every bit of my time, carefree? NO

What I did do was a have a plan ready to go for when I got back. I had a few things left over from before I left that I could prep for healthy meals before I can get to the store, and I made sure to have a new work out program already selected that I began today (Lift More - Joel Freeman).

My point is, health and wellness is 80/20. You've got to give yourself a little bit of grace when things aren't 100% and IT'S OKAY IF THEY AREN'T.

How do you make sure you get back on track when you return from a vacation?

As a Certified Holistic Gut Practitioner, I focus on healing through a whole-body approach to healthcare and focusing on the GUT - brain connection. Holistic medicine aims to improve health and wellness through the body, mind, and soul.

Holistic medicine is based on several core values:
▪️ good health is a combination of physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and social wellness
▪️ prevention first, treatment second
▪️ disease is caused by a problem with the whole body, rather than a single event or body part
▪️ the goal of treatment is to fix the underlying cause of disease, instead of just improving the symptoms
▪️ treatment involves a wide range of options, including education, self-care, complimentary and alternative medicine (CAM), and traditional medicine

Ready for a new hobby⁉️

Then, why not take up gardening? Growing your own food at home can help reduce packaging waste 🗑, conserve water 💦, and decrease the fossil fuels used in typical transportation routes 🚛.

🌱An herb garden is a great place to start ; check your local grocery for a potted basil plant 🪴. Gardening may be just what you’ve been looking for to bring that extra dose of joy into your typical day 🌞.

This month, think about buying foods in season and shop locally, when possible, for . Where do you get your locally sourced foods?

Shopping seasonally is not a new strategy; however, you may not have fully realized its impact on the environment. By shopping seasonally, we can reduce the distance our food travels, which can help lower greenhouse gas emissions. It also helps support local farmers who practice sustainable agricultural practices to benefit our communities.

Who’s HUNGRY?!? 👌New Breakfast Recipe👌

Sautéed veggies, over easy egg, avocado, and 5 Minute Almond Butter Romesco Sauce. So so so so yummy!!

1️⃣ Sauté veggies (1 cup per serving, but I make a big batch and portion out for later) in 1 TBPS olive oil. I used cauliflower, broccoli, diced onion, diced mushroom
2️⃣ Cook egg to preference. I like the runny yoke!
3️⃣ Top with avocado
4️⃣ Drizzle with 5 Minute Almond Butter Romesco Sauce
