I’ve always loved the idea of bringing the voice back to a vintage instrument.

In this episode, we talk through the story of a 1960s Gibson acoustic that needed a lot of love — but one I knew still had something to say. After some careful work and attention, that voice came right back to life. It sounds incredible and plays just as good as it ever has!

I’m excited to share this new “About NHP” video talking about the future of what's to come for Nick's Hand-Picked Guitars — something that feels deeply personal to me and to the St. Louis music community that shaped me.

I grew up taking guitar lessons at local shops here in St. Louis, joining bands, and playing shows across the city as a kid. Those early experiences are what inspired me to build Nick’s Hand-Picked Guitars — a place where guitars have stories, players feel connected, and the community comes first. All centralized back in a community, St. Louis County, that is today missing that niche.

Today, NHP is primarily an online shop but with a growing local presence! We currently offer full guitar services plus consignments, appraisals, and we buy guitars alongside a curated selection of vintage and unique instruments - ALL to soon be housed in a shop local to St. Louis County! And as NHP grows, one of my biggest goals is to bring music education and lessons into the bigger picture — to create that same sense of discovery I felt as a kid finding a new voice through learning an instrument.

Our mission is built on three pillars:
• A local guitar shop - the center point of NHP
• A community forum and marketplace where all can connect (currently in beta!)
• Original video content that brings guitar history to life
