❓️Are you familiar with reproductive justice❓️
📚 If not, you must read the book Reproductive Justice by Loretta Ross and Rickie Salinger.
Reproductive Justice puts the lives and lived experiences of women of color at the center, acknowledging that many factors, including class, race, sexuality, and gender identity, represent the many intersections of a person.
For Black and non-Black people of color, reproduction has historically been oppressed, including a long history of forced sterilizations and coercion around contraceptive use.
The tenates of reproductive justice also include the right to parent a child in a safe and healthy environment. Having minimal green space, dilapidated infrastructure, and exposure to environmental toxins in residential areas violates that right.
✨️Reproductive justice maintains that safe, healthy, and thriving communities are essential to parenting. If we can provide such communities, everyone thrives, including pregnant people✨️
