I didn’t know I was abandoning myself until it broke me.

For a long time, I didn’t realize I was abandoning myself.

I thought I was just being strong.
I thought I was being responsible.
I thought I was doing what everyone else needed from me.

But here’s what self-abandonment actually looked like in my life:

🔹 Saying “I’m fine” when I wasn’t
🔹 Taking care of everyone else’s emotions before my own
🔹 Ignoring my body’s signals because I didn’t have time
🔹 Pushing through instead of pausing
🔹 Feeling guilty for needing anything

It didn’t look dramatic.
It looked normal.
And that’s the problem.

Most women don’t realize they’ve abandoned themselves until their body starts raising its voice:

The exhaustion.
The tension.
The overeating.
The holiday spiral.
The resentment.
The emotional weight that keeps getting heavier.

Talking to family can be a challenge, especially if they bring up a topic you don’t want to discuss.

Quick solution: politely redirect them.

“Reading any good books?”
“Have you seen (a show or movie)?”
“Where did you get your cute outfit?”

If that doesn’t work, simply walk away.

Let’s be real.

Most of us wish we could say-

“I don’t want to talk about that.” or

“You and I do not agree. So, let’s talk about something we both want to talk about.”

But we don’t.

Nothing is worth sacrificing your mental well-being.

And an invitation to a conversation doesn’t require participation.
