Distributed CO₂ refrigeration has arrived in North America. Copeland’s latest CO₂ compression innovation — our transcritical CO₂ scroll compressor with DVI technology — is expanding the use of natural refrigerants into smaller-format, more flexible distributed architectures.

While CO₂ (R-744) adoption continues to accelerate in North America, installations have centered on large, centralized rack systems. Our new compression platform opens compelling opportunities for distributed rack architectures across the food retail market — from large-format supermarkets to convenience stores.

Now, operators can pair the flexibility, scalability and performance advantages of distributed systems with the sustainability benefits of ultra-low-GWP CO₂.

In one instance, a student was the primary care provider for their mother while working and pursuing his studies. The program identified this student as an emergency case requiring immediate assistance. The volunteer team stabilized the student.
