🎻 Meet the Knilling Shop 🛠️

Jared has been working as an instrument technician in the Knilling Shop for 9 years! He's a St. Louis native and versatile musician, having played guitar for 20 years, drums for 14 and keyboard for 6.

Q: What’s your favorite instrument to adjust?
A: I like working on the basses. They’re big and fun to play-test.

Q: What’s your most trusted tool?
A: I find myself reaching for my exacto knife in a variety of situations.

Q: What do you like to listen to while working?
A: I’m usually listening to podcasts like The Complete Guide to Everything, The Easy Allies Podcast and 155.

Q: What music have you been listening to recently?
A: Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food, CSS - Donkey, Thee Oh Sees - SORCS 80, The Kinks - The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society

Q: What’s a piece of string music you love?
A: I love the simplicity of the strings on "The List" by Defiance, Ohio. It’s a pop-punk song at its core but the violin and cello really elevate it to something special.

Experience insights about the preserve's ecotones from Bring Conservation Home and Missouri Prairie Foundation naturalists and small musical ensembles along the trail, followed by a sit-down concert set featuring the full EcoTones Ensemble performing new music inspired by the preserve's flora and fauna.
