A powerful milestone in advanced heart failure care. 🫀

Recently, the heart team at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West completed 50 ventricular assist device (VAD) implants, the most in their history.

A VAD helps a weakened heart circulate blood, offering renewed strength and hope. Each implant reflects extraordinary teamwork and a commitment to giving patients more time.

When Alisia woke up after 21 days in a medically induced coma, she was surrounded by calm voices reminding her she was safe.

After suffering severe burns, she was transported by helicopter to Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Regional Burn Center in Milwaukee, the only verified burn center in Southeastern Wisconsin. What followed was months of advanced care, multiple surgeries, and a recovery journey shaped by compassion and teamwork.

During Burn Awareness Week, we are honoring burn survivors like Alisia and the care teams who walk beside them through recovery.
