Last night, several Murphys (missing a few) attended the Brain Injury Foundation of St. Louis (BIFSTL) gala.
John O’Leary was the guest speaker, and as expected, incredible. Lauren is standing next to John in the first photo.
Both miracles defied the odds, not just because of their determination, and grit, but because people showed up for them in ways we could have never imagined, friends, family, strangers, celebrities, and an entire community.

I think Walker may have given Pluto a run for his money. Walker was by far the cutest dog in the park. (Sorry we made you wear Mickey ears and pose for a gazillion photos Walker)🐕‍🦺

Even though there were lots of tears, we had such a great time with all of you at Make-A-Wish today!
Thank you for welcoming us and for the incredible work you do. Your mission of bringing joy, hope, and possibility to families during tough times felt so connected to our story. While the fight wasn’t fair… we fought it anyway, and you all help so many do the same day in and day out.
What a truly loving and caring team you are.

What story don’t you see? You see a smile. You see strength. You see Lauren.But what you don’t see is the daily fight with challenges that remain invisible, the fatigue, the seizures, the words that sometimes don’t come easily. Invisible disabilities don’t always announce themselves, but they are just as real. Lauren’s story reminds us to look beyond appearances and remember that Kindness Is Free. What stories might be hidden behind the faces you see every day?

When the path isn’t chosen, how do you keep walking? Life doesn’t always wait for us to say yes before it changes direction. Some steps are chosen, others are forced. But each one still moves us forward. For us, it begins with Show Up. Even when the way is uncertain, even when the road feels heavy, showing up is the first act of courage. Every step after that follows. We don’t have to have it all figured out — we just have to show up.
