Come join me for two fantastic courses chockful of information that will leave you feeling prepared and less anxious about your baby feeding journey.
I support all feeding choices. You can learn all about bottle feeding and/or breastfeeding in my courses.
In my Prenatal breastfeeding course, I cover what to expect the first month. We get into the latch, using your baby’s reflexes to feed well, evaluating if your baby is getting your milk, breast care and much more!

In the Pumping & Bottle feeding courses, I review bottle feeding positions, choosing bottles, evaluating your baby’s success and comfort. If you are pumping, you will find this section helpful. I review different pumps, wearables and table pumps, pumping technique, fl**ge fitting, and more.

I see parents who been given the shield just because of perceived anatomy. And this can cause problems if their baby is not latching correctly to the shield.
A ni**le shield comes with risks as well. Your baby may not be transferring milk effectively and it’s harder to tell when using a shield. I see a lot of pain and sore ni**les.
Sometimes we need to use a shield and they have their place. But not without a full assessment first.
Reach out for support on my website at cathywalkeribclc.com for full lactation consultation.

Families’ mental health is a passion of mine. I incorporate balance into any care plan I create with the parent’s help. We all have to put on our oxygen mask before we care for others.
I am really proud to have completed the certification in perinatal mental health.
Lactation care should be holistic and look at the whole family and emotional health.

The holiday season is quickly approaching, bringing loved ones together to celebrate. And as families gather, it’s easier for contagious viruses to spread, putting vulnerable groups at risk. Thankfully, widespread vaccination prevents these diseases from spreading and keeps everyone healthy.

Virtual (online) lactation consultations are every bit as impactful as in person consultations if you see a skilled provider who has training in virtual care. I have that experience, training and results.
Imagine just walking to your living room in your pajamas and logging into expert help at your convenience.
With my virtual consultations we form a partnership. You receive follow up messaging support. Consultations available in CT and NY.

ACOG reaffirms the safety and benefits of acetaminophen use during pregnancy.
More than two decades of research have found no causal link between use during pregnancy and autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in children. Acetaminophen continues to be an important and safe option for managing pain and fever in pregnancy—conditions that can pose serious risks to pregnant patients and their fetuses if left untreated. Learn more about acetaminophen use during pregnancy in our new FAQ at the link in our bio.

What if every waiting room came with a little more compassion?

Less than 15% of those struggling with maternal mental health conditions ever reach out for help. Often, it’s not because they don’t want to... it’s because they don’t know where to go, or if they’ll be met with understanding.

That’s why we are developing the Blue Dot Safe Spot.

This new program trains medical providers and their staff from OB offices and pediatric clinics to school nurses and community health centers. Each trained location becomes a designated Blue Dot Mental Health Safe Spot, visibly signaling to mothers that they are heard and cared about.

When a provider can recognize the signs of a Perinatal Mental Health Disorder and respond with knowledge, empathy, and resources, it can change, or even save, a life.

It's Maternal Su***de Awareness Month. Sadly, maternal su***de is one of the leading causes of death during pregnancy and the first year postpartum.

But there is so much we can do to prevent and build awareness. We linked a good read from Psychology Today in our bio. Check it out!
