✅Community Input Needed!

Montcalm Care Network is tasked with serving those with the most serious mental health needs. In addition to being underfunded by the State for the last four years, we know Medicaid cuts will further impact MCN's ability to serve the community. Earlier this week, the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) abruptly issued letters and actions cancelling Congressionally-appropriated grants for lifesaving mental health and substance use programs. Fortunately, funding was restored with 24 hours after Congress took action. Let them know how important mental health and substance use treatment is!

Mental Health America thanks Congress and urges them to continue prioritize funding for lifesaving addiction and mental health services.

Yesterday's court ruling was a win for Michigan's public mental health system -- a system that has been locally managed and responsive to community needs for more than 60 years.

We are local people caring for local people and we will continue to fight to protect those we serve and the communities we call home.

While this battle is far from over, we're grateful to those who voiced their concerns to the Governor. Please keep the advocacy going.

Community Mental Health Association of Michigan

A judge has denied the state of Michigan’s request to revamp how the mental health system is funded, ruling that the plan would have violated state law. (January 8, 2026)
