Balance requires more than physical stability. Your mindset, emotional state and energy affect your ability to remain steady and easy. Balance is more than a physical ability. It is also in your thoughts, words and actions. To be balanced is to see all directions, to know all possibilities.
Balance helps you to be purposeful instead of selfish, self serving or ego driven.
Show us how you incorporate balance into your life as you practice yoga everywhere.

Some of our clients refer to theirs as "princess time." We set up all the tools and focus upon you for the duration.
Lake Tahoe Yoga began as Svadhyaya Yoga in 2008. The original name meaning "self study." The community learned that Jenay was a yoga teacher and helped her to begin guided yoga classes at a local dance studio. Over time, the classes grew and a studio was born.
Juggling being a School Counselor and yoga studio owner was challenging. In 2016, Jenay chose to leave the school and focus upon providing yoga practices for everyone from infants to seniors. Thousands of people have joined the practices offered by Lake Tahoe Yoga not only at the studio, but during free events, for community gatherings and to support local organizations. Scheduled classes, private events, corporate groups, celebrations, indoor, outdoor and on-site sessions are booked by the residents and visitors of the Tahoe basin.
She and her team offer Real Yoga which addresses more than the physical. They help to connect people with nature and themselves and have been doing so through recession, blizzards, the pandemic and fires. Lake Tahoe Yoga is more than a studio, it's a space for community, healing and wellbeing. Jenay is dedicated not only to the yogic lifestyle, but also to sharing the practice everywhere, with everyone to improve the way in which we live.

We all might look like we're doing the same thing, but we are all experiencing a different practice. Every time you engage in asana, you have changed. The way in which you access the posture differs and should be different to address your needs in the moment.
There will be times when the vinyasakrama your guide suggests is exactly what you need. During other times it may feel misaligned. It is your sankalpa and svadhyaya that inform you as you practice. The adjustments you make should address your physical, mental, emotional and energetic needs.
An informed and well practiced guide will sense and address your needs, but it's up to you to express and adjust in response to your Self.

Where you choose to direct prana is where you create sakti.
This vinyasakrama transitions virabhdrasana dvi to trikonasana. While there is physical effort required to move limbs and create lift, mindful focus is upon steadiness of gaze and the qualities of wind and water as well as drawing prana toward center to create a singular pivot point for the practice.
What sequence serves you today? Is warrior two a pose you need? Where do you need to direct prana and how?
To execute anything in a new circumstance you must return to that which you have established previously.
The sort order you select to access virabhadrasana dvi should be adjusted for each practice based upon svadhyaya and sankalpa. Draw from that which you have learned from prior experiences and change in response to your present place, energy and mindset.
Every time you practice everything has changed. Return to that which you know to establish steadiness while being present in this new experience.

Virabhadrasana dvi: warrior two
When and why do you engage in this posture and how do you intentionally prepare for it? Very different from the previously practiced virabhadrasana eka, this position requires sequencing that addresses your ability to expand in two directions. What does this mean to you?
Show us how you prepare for warrior two and tell us how you are purposeful in your practice.

It's impossible to be perfect, but always possible to change.
As you continue to sequence your asana to include surya namaskar, caturanga, urdhvamukhasvanasana, adhohmukhasvanasana and virabhadrasana eka, consider how to now include virabhadrasana dvi.
When and why do you practice warrior two?

Yoga is more than postures.
The physical aspects can help you to feel more mobile and strong. The mental aspects are what actually improve your life. You can develop focus, resilience, patience and other mental fortitudes by practicing consistently. Yoga can help you to feel well so you can keep playing, stay focused and live your best life.

It was serendipity that led to the creation of Lake Tahoe Yoga. For years studio owner, Jenay, would joke when walking by empty commercial spaces saying, “That’s a good spot for a Yoga studio.” She never thought she would actually open one.
Jenay Aiksnoras, ERYT500, M.S. Counseling, B.S. Psychology completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training while studying for her Master’s Degree. At the time, she was working two jobs: nanny and flower delivery girl while also interning as a counselor. This is just a small example of her commitment and work ethic.
In 2008, Jenay and her husband Brian relocated from East (NY) to West (NV). Jenay began working as a School Counselor, Brian is a Physical Therapist. The two regularly discuss that which they are learning, challenged by, and struggling with in order to both grow as individuals and professionals. Brian’s knowledge of Physiology and Anatomy has helped Jenay improve her awareness of the human body. Jenay’s understanding of the human condition has helped Brian provide better treatment for his patients.
Lake Tahoe Yoga began as Svadhyaya Yoga Studio. Svadhyaya translates to mean Self Study. In the lineage of Rajahatha Yoga Svadhyaya is the most valuable practice to develop in order to access Samadhi (integration). The studio was built on a foundation of sharing knowledge and connecting with others through conversation as well as developing better awareness while moving and breathing.
As Svadhyaya Yoga Studio grew, so did Jenay; she completed her 500 level YTT in 2011 and established the Lake Tahoe Yoga School. She has trained dozens of new teachers in the lineage of Rajahatha Yoga. Svadhyaya Yoga Studio became Lake Tahoe Yoga and the motto “Practice Yoga Everywhere” is applied literally. Jenay has taught throughout the basin, at her teacher’s studio in Madison, Wisconsin, in Cambodia and at a few unique locations you should ask her about when you meet her.
Today, Lake Tahoe Yoga has become more than just a place to practice poses. The class schedule is simply labeled to reflect the style of Asana and lineage that will be practiced. Every class includes a philosophical focus, intentional sequencing and directed breathing. In the tradition of Hatha Yoga practices of Mantra, Bandha and Satkarma are incorporated.
Every class begins with a Dharmic Focus. We discuss topics written about in ancient texts including The Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Vedas and Upanishads. We will chat about how Yoga has influenced the various practices of modern times as well as how some of the ancient techniques are not quite as applicable today. You will learn proper technique for accessing postures, the proper application for directed breath, mindfulness practices you can do anywhere and more.
All ages and abilities are welcome at Lake Tahoe Yoga. It is the perfect place to begin, grow and deepen your practice. To learn more about our Classes, Teacher Training, Therapeutic Sessions, Private Bookings, Corporate Classes and our unique Realignment Coaching. Visit LakeTahoeYoga.com.
