There is something profoundly humbling about caring for someone we love at the end of their journey — whether that’s a family member or a beloved animal companion. It touches a place deep within us. And often, the grief begins long before they actually leave. That, too, is sacred.
Anticipatory grief opens a quiet chamber inside the heart — one that holds tenderness, love, and the ache of impending loss. And loss doesn’t only arrive through physical death. It can surface when we release a version of ourselves that no longer fits. When we outgrow a friendship. When we choose a new path and gently close a chapter behind us. Grief is not just about endings — it is about transition.
Caring for Sophie right now has asked me to slow down even more. To sit outside a little longer. To notice the light on her fur. To feel the gift of her presence while it is still here. There is something about tending to another being in this way that strips everything back to what truly matters.
As a psychic medium, I hold a deep knowing that there is a realm beyond this one — that love does not disappear when the body does. And still, there is something profoundly human about missing the physical presence. About longing for the sound of their paws on the floor, the weight of them beside you.
So today, I celebrate Sophie.
I celebrate the moments we are sharing right now.
I celebrate the love that exists in this very breath.
Because presence — especially in times like these — is the greatest gift of all.
