🫶 This birthday trip felt different.
We celebrated turning 50 without alcohol.
Every year my closest friends and I try to get away together to celebrate another trip around the sun.
My actual 50th birthday isn’t until July, but this was the only time we could all make it happen.
What was different this year?
We chose not to drink.
Not because anyone told us we shouldn’t… but because we realized we didn’t need alcohol to heighten the experience.
In the past it sometimes did the opposite — dimmed it.
Left us tired the next day.
Pulled us away from the deeper conversations.
This year we stayed present.
We talked longer.
We laughed harder.
We tried new things (kite surfing checked off the bucket list!).
After working in the health space for 15+ years, studying nutrition, hormones, supplements, peptides and all the “biohacks”… one of the biggest shifts for me has actually been mental.
Not using alcohol to numb stress, past experiences, or everyday triggers.
For me, letting that go opened something unexpected.
Life feels brighter.
Conversations go deeper.
Opportunities and connections show up in ways I might have missed before.
Everyone’s relationship with alcohol is different. There’s no judgment here.
But if you’ve ever wondered what life might feel like with a little more clarity and presence…
I can tell you from experience — the other side can be pretty beautiful. 🫶💕✨
Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience?
