Working in healthcare is not easy.
At Oak Ridge Place, we experience goodbyes more often than we would like, whether it is a transition to a higher level of care, a move closer to family, or the passing of a cherished resident. No matter the reason, each goodbye leaves an emptiness behind.
Every day, we build relationships with the people who call our community home. They become family to us, and their families and visitors become our friends. One day they are part of our regular shifts, our conversations, and our laughter, and the next day they are simply not there.
To all healthcare workers, regardless of your role, my wish for you is that whenever you feel that emptiness, it is filled again by the laughter and love of those who continue to be a part of your days, both the familiar faces and the ones yet to come. May those who are no longer with us leave behind a small piece of themselves that brings you peace, happiness, and comfort.
Your work is never easy, but it is meaningful. It matters.
May you always find joy, purpose, and fulfillment in what you do, even on the hardest days.
