Constance Bailey PHITness Constance is an AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor with certifications in Kettlebell AMPD, AMPD Strength, Resistance, and Power Flow.

She is also certified to teach Les Mills' Body Pump, Zumba and Strong Nation, which is a high intensity format.

“I Wanna Dance With Somebody. I Wanna Feel the Heat with Somebody…” Tomorrow will be my first time teaching an in person group fitness class in over five years (except for at the CLA convention). Instead of practicing, I’m taking selfies because why not 🤣 Anyway, it’s Chair Aerobics and they’re senior citizens so hopefully they won’t notice when I screw up 😳

Today was great for a lot of reasons. 1. I started a Chair One Fitness certification months ago in anticipation of the knee replacement I was supposed to have thist month, but my ortho doc claims I’m only 5’8 so I didn’t lose enough weight😭 I’ll regroup and have surgery in the spring because I need that joint to perform optimally so that I can get back to regular group fitness instruction. I love teaching classes almost as much as I love teaching folks how to play cards or teaching African American folklore & literature. Anyway, I FINALLY finished that certification 2. I caught up with .jen40, one of the wonderful women that I completed my MixxedFit training with a few months ago. Aside from running my mouth or practicing line dances for my certification format, going to ’s kick a*z Zumba class was only my second group fitness class this year and I survived-barely. 3. I linked up with for some academic inspiration, which is always timely. As Cube would say, “today was a good day!”

I have attempted to use my certifications for anything other than leading a Zumba session for annual Convention, but despite how challenging it was, MixxedFit was so much fun that AFTER I catch up on work, I may start practicing on a routine with some of my training buddies. I met such an amazing group of women today in my first in person training since Covid. Now I won’t be able to walk for a week, but the energy in the building was AMAZING! I intended to get this certification when I was still teaching classes in NW Arkansas, so I’m glad to cross it off my group fitness bucket list!

Had a great time this evening. Thankful to friends who came out to support my return to group fitness. If I look lost in one of those photos I probably confused one of the 50 country girl songs. 😂 That or I was wondering how long before I could soak in Epson salt 🤣🤷🏽‍♀️

After today’s mini movement session with and .rosita_scerbo I didn’t have time for core work so I sat on my exercise ball while I was taking my daughter’s hair down. Clearly I need to add air to mine, but the point is that exercise balls are a great way to work on core strength. The core works to stabilize and help you balance so just sitting on the ball becomes a workout! 😊

Now that we’re moved and my orthopedic doc has cleared me for workouts with no impact, Chloe and I are ready to knock the dust off! They ain’t Peabo and Regina but Chloe requested the Aladdin soundtrack for this week’s workouts, so they’ll have to do. For tomorrow’s challenge, I have to create some resistance band choreo for Will Smith’s version of “Friend Like Me.”

Even if Zumba doesn’t make its way onto the 2024 convention schedule for this year’s convention, I’m still going to party with cause those are my people! Let me know which line dance I need to practice so that we can take over the dance floor on Friday night! Texas Hold ‘Em, Lil Weight, or both?
