I walked in the doctor's office today (I'm fine!) and looked for a seat, but then see all the kid's books.

There were some of my old favs. Just seeing them made me smile!

I started to read one, and I was transformed.

I was smiling. Laughing. Happy.

Why don't I do this more often?? It was joyous!

Forget reading the magazines for adults or checking my phone one more time!

Shiny and new is often exciting and tempting.

But, what about giving the old stuff a second chance? Making something work and knowing that that is more than enough?

The Repair Fair hosted by The Lee Greener Gateway Committee at the Lee Congregational Church in Lee MA last weekend showed the beauty of community coming together to make things good again.

A huge thank you for getting my vacuum cleaner and printer working, and for sewing up my gloves.

THANK YOU!!

I get many interesting questions at my "You are Amazing!" parties. I love the questions.

I especially enjoy getting them from someone I don't know (It's so wonderful when my amazing people bring their amazing people!), which happened at my recent party in Wisconsin.

Tom Spicuzza asked what do I do when things aren't going according to the "good" plan. When I'm feeling down.

The answer? I try to create dopamine hits using the framework of my "Three Things that make me Happy!"

My wish for all of us is that we get to feel this much love.

A few weeks ago I was surrounded by friends from St. Seb's, Tosa East, Madison, work, and family. We talked about getting to the good and recognizing it can be amazing. Thanks again to Leff's for hosting.

How am I?

Well, I had a pretty good fever going for the previous 5 days. Which meant:

😵 I couldn't do any of my work or fun plans because I was so achy—all I did was sleep.
😠 After an hour at the doctor's, I was in the ER for 8 HOURS yesterday.
😡 When United texted me they were excited to see me 1/2 hour earlier than I expected, I yelled "Oh, s**t!" and tried to hustle.
🤬 I was stuck behind some ya-who going 20 in a 40.
😖 I had to park in Lot 5B. Yes, there's a Lot 1, 2, 3 - UGH!
😨 As I grabbed my stuff to frantically get the shuttle, I forgot my water bottle. I'm supposed to be drinking a lot of water to clear all the stuff they pumped into me yesterday.
😠 And there's no wifi on the plane so I still can't get the work done that I couldn't get done for the last 5 days.

Or

How am I? Well, I had a pretty good fever going for the previous 5 days. Which meant:

😴 I napped. I NEVER nap, but wow, now I get the hype!
🙏 I was so sick I wasn't sure I could fly, so I went to the Dr. They sent me to the ER. And... we have the kindest ER. Fairview has a sign explaining people are seen according to need. I wasn't there with a stroke; or a broken bone, or heart attack. Others were. When seen, I was kindly cared for.
😍 This morning I said, "Oh, s**t!" after United's text said my flight was earlier than I had thought. But Tatum (my youngest) immediately asked what she could do and made my breakfast.
😇 I felt very rushed, and wanted to drive possibly too fast on the icy roads, but the driver ahead of me set a pace where we were safe.
🥳 The shuttle driver from Lot 5B couldn't have been kinder. He took my bag, made us laugh, and gave clear directions.
😘 I was annoyed and worried as I left my water bottle in the car in my haste to make the shuttle, but the flight attendant gave me a water bottle to take with me.
😄 And while there's no wifi on the plane so I still can't get the work done that I couldn't get done for the last 5 days, it's been kinda nice just reading and writing.

How am I? Depends on my perspective.

Sending lots of good thoughts to everyone. Hoping someone is kind to you today.

And if you're in Milwaukee this Thursday, come to my "You are Amazing!" party at Leff's.

Last week I was extremely lucky to go to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert because of Karen Obel Cape, their Technical Director.

As an audience member, I was incredibly entertained. At one point I admit I did my embarrassing cackle laugh because Stephen was so funny.

But when I got to see a big behind the scenes, I was in awe. The board Karen works during the show is complicated it looks fake! She was interacting with people all over the place - on set, off set, behind the cameras, in front of the cameras, and she did so with kindness and beautiful authority.

Cheers to all the people out there who are really good at your job, like Karen. That is something to be celebrated every day!

I didn't know one of the benefits of writing my book, "Good Is Amazing," would be that other authors would then reach out about their books. I'm having so much fun talking with other writers about their content and the process; all of it has been fascinating.

And I really enjoyed reading an early copy of "Stickology" by Stephen Baer.

Similar to what I did at the end of the chapters in my book, Stephen asks great questions for CEOS/C-Suite to ask themselves, and I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the management of the brands I love ask themselves the questions Stephen poses in his book.

I highly recommend Stickology!

Sharing a WI memory from my book as I lead up to my "You are Amazing!" party on Feb 12th at Leff's in Tosa. (come if you can! https://evite.me/waw6yA2wxn)

Dr. Maya Angelou once spoke at the Union Theater where I worked. Hours after the event was over I went to grab my things from the greenroom, and thinking the theater was empty, I was belting out “Sea of Love” at the top of my lungs.

The theater was not empty.

My boss, the dean, and Dr. Maya Angelou stood smiling as I stuttered out an apology and tried to run. But Maya furrowed her brow and said, “Uh-huh. Nope. Come on. Let’s finish it.” Then she started singing, and I joined in.

I'm joking but also kinda curious on this question:

Do one of you have my copy of Kevin Carroll's "Rules of the Red Rubber Ball?" I desperately want to reread it so I can be reminded and reinvigorated about how to play!

If you have my copy or one of your own, any fav passages you want to share to remind us all?

Because, this adulting stuff has been really hard right now. And I'm thinking that it would be helpful to have some reminders on how to make it less so. To remember to play while I'm doing all this work of being an adult.

Thank you, Lacy Maybery, for sharing that "Play" is your word for 2026 and maybe I could be incorporating it more in my life! I'm trying!

Like Tobin, sometimes I want to bury my head. This adulting stuff is hard! Especially right now.

But if I laugh a little and find even a moment of good, it's easier to keep going. Even when it's especially hard.

Hope this makes you smile so we can all continue doing the hard stuff!

Oh - and yes - we made it back inside from this lake moment! Baby, it is cold outside!

Schools are supposed to teach our kids how to

* solve complex math problems,
* read to understand,
* and write so others understand.

I'm thankful that Monument Mountain Regional High School does all of that.

But what am I most thankful for that they teaching our children?
