Today we’re soaking up this gorgeous Texas fall weather and hanging with our beef cows! We borrowed a bull, Nico, to romance our cow, Joan, so we can hopefully get a baby next Spring! ⠀

Have you ever thought about raising chickens? My absolute favorite part of our homesteading journey so far has been these goofy little feather butts. 🐓 ⠀

When we started with our first batch of chicks, we were still living in the city with a small backyard. But we figured why wait to begin our self-sufficiency journey? 🐣🐣⠀
⠀
The feather butts have stolen my heart over the past couple years. It’s been a total adventure, and I just love watching these crazy chickens come running when I call them. ⠀

Happy Father’s Day to my amazing dad! So blessed to have such a wonderful man to learn from and lean on throughout my life. You’re always there with support and love when I need it, and I couldn’t be more thankful for you! Emory Kate is blessed to have such a wonderful grandpa 🥰🥰

I don’t put on a full face of makeup terribly often these days, but I did for this website mini photo shoot! I dragged out my staples and got to work. ⠀

Then we walked outside, and I thought my face was going to sweat off before we even got into our first pose. 🥵⠀
⠀

Check out this gorgeous chick from We can’t wait to see how she turns out! She’s a French Black Copper Maran and will give us chocolate colored eggs if she’s not a rooster. ♥️♥️ I just love raising laying hens!
