What’s REALLY going to make you feel proud at the end of the day?

Are you going to think back and say “ugh, I’m so glad I took an hour out of my day to watch Netflix” or “I’m so glad I spent a half hour of my life scrolling through Instagram and watching other people’s lives through a screen” OR.. could you take that 30 minutes to an hour and prioritize your health and well-being?

And then lay your head on the pillow at night and say “damn. I’m SO proud of myself that I made the HARD, INCONVENIENT choice to do something that will better me in the long run.” It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t fun, but I know I made a choice that FUTURE me will thank current me for. And repeat making that hard choice over and over again. I assure you… a week, a month, then a year of that consistency will have you looking at a ENTIRELY new person looking back at you in the mirror.

And you’ll be able to say I am so damn proud of you for making that FIRST, day 1 decision to do the hard thing.🔥

Carbs👏🏻 are👏🏻 not👏🏻 the👏🏻 enemy👏🏻.
😘✌🏼.

We need them for energy. Just try to stay away from (or only eat every so often) the white flour & highly process carbs which will leave you feeling bloated, you won’t feel full for long & you’ll be reaching for more shortly after.
Stick to complex and fiber rich carbs, they’ll keep you feeling full WAY longer because your body takes longer to break them down for energy. Whole-wheat pasta & bread, sprouted bread, oats, beans, legumes & potatoes are some great options!

Lately, I’m searching for MOMENTS.

I went on a drive by myself on Saturday to search out some pretty spots to take some photos because it was BEYOND gorgeous outside… and I’m never one to sit inside on a beautiful day. Or really sit still for any amount of time at all🤣

But I find in the summertime the comparison game can go into overdrive watching what feels like everybody and anybody at the beach, at the pool, on a boat, on an island… and if you’re not one of those people it can feel like a big ol WTF😅🙃☹️

Idk that a vacation is in the cards for me this summer, that’s just how it worked out because, ya know, life happened lol — So this summer I’ve been challenging myself to search for MOMENTS.

Moments of relaxation
Moments of sunshine
Moments of gratitude
Moments of when I feel really good
Moments laughing with Brian
Moments of walking with Vinny at our spots

Just a reminder to not get too caught up in comparison because undoubtedly, there is something YOU have that someone else wishes they had.

Did you have a memorable moment this past weekend? Tell me bout it!👇🏼

Only a 5lb difference & 2 months between these photos.

First off, don’t believe one of these bodies is more valuable than the other. It’s been a tough 2021 with lots of transition and changes and when times get hard our instinct is to revert back to what’s comfortable and what makes us *temporarily* feel good. We seek out that instant gratification.

I caught myself falling back into the pattern of eating for comfort, not enough water, too much booze, giving into every single craving and temptation. Then I took back control.

The 5lbs down doesn’t mean much to me — but the less bloating, sleeping like a baby, having more energy during the day & my clothes fitting better… that’s what I’m after. That’s what makes me feel good & more like myself.

Even if I gain weight it doesn’t bother me as long as it’s STRENGTH from muscle mass that I’m gaining… and those extra few pounds weren’t that. They were me not showing up for myself the way I know I deserve. Portion control, eating NOURISHING food, drinking less (but still enjoying a few because come on… I’m all about sustainability & still living your life), more water & having some discipline by not giving in to EVERY single craving. And of course staying hella consistent with my workouts & some sort of daily movement.

I’m gonna keep showing up for me. And I’m gonna keep helping other women show up for themselves too.

My august bootcamp is ready & waiting for you! Fill out the form from the link in my bio, or reach out in the DM’s! Let’s chat goals and end this summer stronger together💪🏼💕

Why Ghee?

And don’t worry, if you have no idea what ghee is, I didn’t either until about a year ago when I heard someone else talking about it lol

Ghee is a type of clarified butter — the clarification process separates milk from fat, with he milk solids being removed… meaning that ghee is typically lactose & casein-free, so you *might* be able to handle it for those who have a lactose intolerance or sensitivity!

Ghee also has a higher smoke point than butter, so less likely to burn & produces less of a toxic compound called acrylamide, which oils produce when heated. Also, oils, when heated too very high temperatures, turn to trans fats… which of course is the worst type of fat we can put in our body.

Both ghee and butter (real butter, preferably grass-fed butter.. not butter substitutes like margarine) when used IN MODERATION, actually have benefits! Who woulda thought lol… we’ve been conditioned to believe that butter is a BIG no-no, which is why I’ve been diving a bit more into researching some of the myths about what we’ve been told are “BAD” foods or “BAD” ingredients & finding some really interesting facts! Facts that also are really freeing which is helpful for anyone on a health & nutrition journey to learn to no longer be SCARED of certain types of food and/or their ingredients!

So, again in small MODERATION, some benefits of this type of fat:
• May reduce gut inflammation & improve digestive health
• Boosts Vitamin A intake (important for maintaining eye health, skin health & immune function)
• Supports heart health (rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help decrease inflammation & protect against heart disease)

Idk if you’ll find all this as interesting as I did… and I’m not saying go ahead and slab a bunch of butter on everything either lol.. BUT I found it a relief to know that butter, just like carbs, are NOT the enemy!

Would it be helpful for me to continue to share more of these nutritional nuggets as I keep learning?

You don’t need a gym membership.
You don’t need an hour.
You don’t need fancy workout clothes.
You just need to make a decision to prioritize yourself.

I’ve got programs as short as 20 minutes a day that you can do right in your livingroom, no equipment required. No shoes are even required!😝

You can do this. You can end your summer feeling stronger & more confident.

I will help you pick a program that matches your goals & your lifestyle… all you gotta do is say the word.

My august accountability group is officially OPEN & there’s still time for you to hop on in with us!🔥

Everyday, is a good day to recommit to yourself.

In 2 weeks I’m starting a new challenge with my bootcamp babes and we’re committing to 13 weeks of PERSONAL training, with a trainer who trains NBA & NFL athletes… as well as celebrators like friggen T-Pain🤩… soo I’d say he knows his s**z!!

What’s amazing though is that we get the personal trainer style training (but at a much more affordable price than paying for a personal trainer), and from the comfort of our livingroom so we can feel fine about lookin like we just rolled outta bed (as per usual for me😛), workout barefoot and have our doggy’s join us… cause dog mamas, 😋.

This program is my favorite type of fitness level because it’s absolutely perfect for ALL levels! Beginners AND seasoned fitness junkies!

This program is going to give you the foundation to MOVE your body better. So if you’re someone who grunts and makes all kinds crazy noises when you try to stand up or bend down… I’m talking to you lol.

We’re going to focus on functional training, meaning to help you create (or correct) proper form, fitness habits & better overall mobility for your everyday life! The workouts will include 8-10 min of an active warm up, 25-30 min of strength training and/or cardio with tons of form & posture checks to ensure you’re doing each move properly + an intentional cool down.

We’re going to get RESULTS with functional fitness to make your LIFE better. Better mobility + better posture + better movement = KICKASS RESULTS!

I’m starting on August 9th, some gals have already started & there’s a handful starting with us! I’m taking 3 more ladies with me for this round…
You in?!

What Sarah in her early 20’s used to prioritize:
A night out drinking with friends
Always being “busy”
Being the “yes” girl for everyone
Working late
Having plans every weekend
New clothes
A skinny body
Makeup on & my hair done always

What Sarah in her early 30’s prioritizes:
Connection with loved ones
A good conversation
A relaxing day at a beach or body of water
Calm
Exercise
Healthy & delicious food
A cold glass of rosé (that part hasn’t changed😜🥂)
Alone time
Meditation
Long walks with Vinny
Comfiest clothing possible

Funny how priorities shift as we go through life, what’s one thing that used to be SUPER important to you that isn’t anymore?

Are you someone who enjoys alone time or does it make you anxious?

I used to H A T E being alone for more than a couple hours. I would feel bored, have major fomo & convince myself that I was missing out on something super fun with people somewhere else in the world.

But over the past few years I’ve learned to really embrace alone time and also realized how important it is and actually ENJOY it!

A few ways to embrace your alone time:

1) Limit social media😳
I know lol, this is literally the hardest thing to do when we’re alone & not occupied with a “task”. BUT the first thing we do when we start scrolling is usually comparing our lives to others which in turn can turn just being alone to loneliness, which are TOTALLY different by the way.

2) Get creative!
I know you’ve said before “if I had more time I’d like to…” [insert DIY project, hobby, new workout class, restaurant to try].
So rather than wasting time scrolling social media or binging Netflix, actually make it a point to take on an ACTIVITY that will bring you joy!

3) Move your body
I’m sure you aren’t surprised that I’m saying this lol, but working out straight up boosts your mood… it’s science🧪.

4) Get outsideeeee!
This can coincide with moving your body too! But for me getting outside for at least a few minutes a day is CRUCIAL for my mental health. Not to mention it’s prove that a minimum of 30min outside per day improves your mental and physical well-being.
Sunlight = medicine.

5) Set short-term goals
It doesn’t have to be crazy, but setting a step goal, a water goal or a goal to read 10 pages of a book per day are good mini-challenges to help keep you motivated. And actually sticking to those goals will boost trust and confidence within yourself that you really can get ISH done!

So I’m curious, do you love or hate your alone time and are any of these tips helpful?

😊

Your Monday reminder that your body is merely the VESSEL that encompasses your true soul and WHO YOU ARE as a person.

The outward appearance of your body has abso-freakin-lutely nothing to do with how kind you are, how talented you are, how sensitive you are, how compassionate you are…

Your outward appearance has nothing to do with the fact that you are loved and are an EXCEPTIONAL mother (human and/or fur mama), wife, girlfriend, daughter, sister, niece, coworker… or whatever other role you have.

Your outward appearance also plays no part on how others should treat you.

Not to mention… If you reallllllly think about it… these body standards are really so irrelevant. Like, for one decade & in the Marilyn Monroe era, the “standard” was curves. Then we decided NO! No curves allowed! Then we went back to some curves on certain areas of the body are ok…🤨 it’s just so bizarre to think about!

Like I’m literally picturing the little man from the wizard of Oz behind a curtain going ok now this is your new standard of beauty people, pay no attention to the person behind the curtain making these irrelevant claims though!🤣🧙🏻‍♂️

Anyways, if you stayed with me through that stream of consciousness I really do love you😋❤️… but seriously, I hope that helped you realize a little bit that nobody has enough caliber to make the claims of what or who is and isn’t beautiful.
You have to determine that within yourself.

What people don’t tell you when you start a health journey…

Your progress will most likely NOT be linear & what works for HER may not also work for YOU.

This is all about fitting fitness and healthy nutrition into YOUR lifestyle in a way that works for you. It needs to work for YOUR lifestyle because that is the only way it will become a SUSTAINABLE solution for you long term!

Utilizing a specific routine that has worked for someone else and trying it out is great… because that at least gives you a starting point. BUT if it doesn’t work for you that doesn’t mean you’re less than or that this particular solution won’t work for you. It just means you may need to tweak it & pivot a bit to make it fit your schedule or your preferences in a way that makes it so you’re working towards YOUR goals, not hers!

Not everyone vibes with the same workout program.
There is not ONE magical nutrition program or meal plan that works for everyone.

And on that note.. there WILL be points in time along your journey where you hit plateaus, or maybe you gain some of the weight back you worked so hard to lose… it happens. But guess what? …you are only HUMAN!

That point when you feel defeated can be used as the FIRE to recommit! All it means is that something within your routine and daily habits needs to shift.

A health journey is just that, a JOURNEY. There is no destination, it’s about embracing & trusting the process along the way.

So I hope you find comfort in knowing that if you’re feeling stuck right now, you’re not alone! Just get back up and try something else. You’ve got this! If I can ask you one thing though… PLEASE don’t give up.

And if you need a helping hand on committing or RE-committing, you know where to find me!🤍
