Pink Eye Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All!
Not all conjunctivitis is the same—knowing the difference matters 👇

🦠 Viral Conjunctivitis
• Very contagious
• Often comes with a cold or flu
• Watery discharge, redness, irritation
• Antibiotics don’t help—usually clears on its own

🧫 Bacterial Conjunctivitis
• Also contagious
• Thick yellow or green discharge
• Eyes may be stuck shut in the morning
• Often treated with antibiotic eye drops

🌼 Allergic Conjunctivitis
• Not contagious
• Caused by pollen, dust, pet dander, etc.
• Intense itching, redness, watery eyes
• Improves with allergy treatment

If your eyes are red, uncomfortable, or have discharge, an eye exam can help determine the cause and the right treatment. 👓

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month 💚

Glaucoma is often called the “silent thief of sight” because it usually develops without noticeable symptoms in the early stages. It is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve—most commonly due to increased eye pressure—and can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated.

Regular comprehensive eye exams are the best way to detect glaucoma early. Early diagnosis and proper management can help slow or prevent vision loss and protect your long-term eye health. If you have a family history of glaucoma, are over age 40, or have certain medical conditions, routine eye exams are especially important.

Protect your vision—schedule your eye exam and take a proactive step toward lifelong eye health.

Dry eye disease is often caused by inflammation or blockage of the meibomian glands, which are responsible for maintaining a stable tear film. When these glands aren’t functioning properly, tears evaporate too quickly, leading to irritation, burning, and fluctuating vision. Our eye office provides comprehensive evaluation and management to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms.

For patients who may benefit from advanced treatment, we offer IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy at our med spa location, . IPL helps reduce inflammation, improve oil gland function, and restore a healthier tear film—providing long-lasting relief from dry eye disease.

👁️ Understanding Cataracts: Signs & Symptoms
Cataracts are one of the most common causes of vision changes as we age. They occur when the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to gradual vision decline. Early detection is key to maintaining clear, healthy sight.

Here are the most common signs and symptoms to watch for:
• Blurry or cloudy vision
• Increased glare or halos, especially around lights at night
• Difficulty seeing in low light or needing brighter light to read
• Faded or less vibrant colors
• Frequent prescription changes
• Double vision in one eye
• Trouble with night driving

If you’re noticing any of these changes, it may be time for a comprehensive eye exam. Cataracts develop slowly, but with proper monitoring and treatment, vision can often be safely restored.

Your eyes deserve expert care. 👁️✨

🩺 November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month

Diabetic Retinopathy is one of the leading causes of vision loss in adults — but it’s also highly preventable with early detection. High blood sugar damages the tiny blood vessels in the retina, causing them to leak, swell, or close off over time.

👁 What to Watch For:
• Blurry or fluctuating vision
• Dark spots or floaters
• Poor night vision
• Missing or blank areas in your sight
• Sudden vision loss

Many patients have no symptoms at all in early stages, which is why yearly dilated eye exams are crucial. These exams allow us to detect early changes long before they affect your vision.

💉 Treatment Options:
Anti-VEGF injections, laser therapy, and vitrectomy can help prevent or slow vision loss — but early diagnosis is key. Keeping blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol controlled also plays a major role.

❤️ Protect Your Vision
If you have diabetes, don’t wait for symptoms. Schedule your annual diabetic eye exam and take a proactive step toward long-term vision health.

November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month

Did you know diabetes is one of the leading causes of preventable vision loss? High blood sugar can silently damage the tiny blood vessels in the retina—often without any noticeable symptoms in the early stages.

Common diabetic eye conditions include:
• Diabetic retinopathy – damaged retinal blood vessels that can lead to blurry vision or vision loss
• Diabetic macular edema – swelling in the central part of the retina that affects sharp, detailed vision
• Cataracts & glaucoma – both occur more frequently in people with diabetes

The most important step you can take:
Schedule annual dilated eye exams. Early detection and treatment are key to protecting your long-term vision.

If you or a loved one has diabetes, we’re here to help keep your eyes healthy. Call or book online to schedule your exam.
