For a long time I thought homesteading meant you had to do everything.
Acres of land. A huge garden. Chickens running around the yard. Canning shelves that looked like a general store.
But the longer I’ve lived this life, the more I’ve realized something important…
Homesteading isn’t a checklist.
It’s a mindset.
Some people homestead on 40 acres.
Some people homestead in a small backyard.
Some people homestead in an apartment with sourdough starter on the counter and herbs in the window.
For me, homesteading means learning how to make more things at home, choosing natural ingredients, less toxins and chemicals, growing what I can, and slowing down enough to enjoy the process.
It’s milking goats one minute and baking bread the next. It’s making soap, planting seeds, fighting garden pests, and finding joy in the simple work of caring for a home.
And it’s also the heart behind The Spunky Spurtle.
This page is where I’ll be sharing pieces of that life again.
• homesteading inspiration
• simple from-scratch ideas
• natural kitchen and home tips
• gardening and seasonal living
• and of course the tools and simmer pots I make to bring natural goodness into your kitchen.
If you’re here because you love cooking from scratch, living a little simpler, or just learning how to do more for yourself… you’re in the right place.
Welcome (or welcome back) to The Spunky Spurtle. 🌿
