We got good news and bad news on the vet visit last Friday.
On our first visit back in July, we were concentrating on the "WET" side of her FIP. She weighed 14 lbs. On Friday she weighed 9.4 lbs with no fluid was evident. Eating, drinking, using the litterbox normally. We had full blood work done. Kidney/liver still fine. High Potassium down to normal and Low Calcium up to normal, but she was more anaemic and her platelets had dropped. Not so good..
Now for the REALLY bad part. Both I and the vet had failed to notice her eyes squinting on that first visit in July. There was little or no tearing, but on Thursday I realised I was looking at a blind cat. I had NO idea that 7% of cats with wet FIP also have OCULAR/NEURO FIP. Vet said to watch and keep her comfortable. We HAD noticed some twitches and "jumps" and it was on Thursday I noticed her pupils were fixed and dilated and that she wasn't responding to light. She was finding her way to her food, water and litter box, but my heart was heavy. Our vet told us she had bilateral retinal detachments due to Ocular FIP. He checked her pressures as her eyes seemed to be bulging and glaucomatous, and they were normal at 14/15. I know that a drug called Mutian has been found to help with Ocular FIP, as it easily passes the blood-ocular barrier and the blood-brain barrier, way more so than the other antivirals, including Ivermectin, but it is not available here in the US.
This morning, I fear that Pooky has had some sort of neurological event overnight- maybe a seizure, as she is now extremely floppy, with occasional twitches, and is hardly responding. With an extra dose of Pet CBD, she is at least very peaceful right now, laying on her dad's lap, and is aware of us on some level as she purrs when we stroke her. Please keep John and I in your prayers as we think that she may not be hear much longer and my precious furbaby returns to her Creator. You see, our pets were never separated from God the Creator by SIN, unlike man. You see, God the Father cannot even LOOK at sin. Our pets, OTOH, are innocent, WITHOUT SIN. There is no need for a Saviour for them, for them to rejoin our Father in Heaven. Fallen, sinful man is destined for Hell and the Lake of Fire, according to the Holy Scriptures. The GOOD news is that The Father sent the son, Jesus. Fully God and fully Man, born of a virgin, Mary, sent to SAVE humanity. Jesus never sinned, and was crucified to death on a cruel cross. The PERFECT and INNOCENT Lamb that died ONCE for all humanity was sacrificed to save US because God desires a relationship with ALL His Creation, and once saved through Jesus, we re-establish that relationship, separated out - a "Peculiar people".. and will dwell in the Kingdom of God forever and ever. Do YOU want to be with YOUR furbabies again after they pass? Then YOU need to be SAVED!
Salvation is simple. Recognise and CONFESS to God that YOU are a sinner.. that ALL men are sinners. Truly repent of your sins, and call on Jesus to save your eternal soul!
From the KJV Bible
Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
