A disease is usually defined by a constellation of signs and symptoms. Western medicine defines health roughly as not disease.
The task then becomes to find and remove disease. Typical blood work is able to only find the presence of disease. Prescription drugs are used to mask or suppress the body's ability to generate symptoms. Once the symptoms are suppressed, the disease is gone, and you are deemed "healthy."
Far from it, give things enough time and the underlying issue that was never addressed will produce some new set of symptoms, usually more serious.

Most folk will agree that health is not the lack of disease, yet it has not dropped for them that by stepping into the conventional medical system that is the working model.

I leave a working definition of for another time. In the meanwhile come up with one of your own. See how it is similar to "no disease" and importantly dissimilar. For now, here's an overview of a health based model of care.

Find imbalances and deficiencies in the body that are either causing overt symptoms or not. These can be detected by functional medicine tests. Address the underlying issues which may or may not be currently causing disease through adjuncts such as: supplements, herbs, acupuncture, lifestyle modifications, diet changes, detoxification, and exercise.

You are entitled to health. Are you healthy or simply currently free from disease?
There are easy tests, not done by conventional medicine, to help answer this question. For special populations such as athletes or pre-conception the answer to this question becomes fundamental to your purpose. Please get an integrative health coach.

If you take a fish that's sick with a fish virus and pluck it out of the water then its likely to die pretty fast.

Increasingly we are detached from and distorting our environment. What's happening now is that there's a virus and we fish are dying pretty fast. However, the true cause is that we are "out of water" --unable to use our natural powers to handle the tiny fella-- and do not even know it.

The bullets listed above are the easiest and best-bang-for-the-buck interventions to reconnect with our natural environment. If unfamiliar with any of the above see the related blog post, link below.

I urge you to adapt as many as these as possible, not only to boost your immune system and protect yourselves from the current pandemic but also to manifest the best possible health, wellness, and version of yourself.

Once these measures are in place you might not even need the supplements or herbals that I and other Health Practitioners recommend for deeper or emergency support. Get the basics in place so the ADD-ONs can have a chance of working.

The tried and true ways to handle a virus are your best measures to stay healthy right now. Basic lifestyle and diet and movement advice: eat clean, unprocessed foods, mostly plants in the form of fresh fruit and vegetables, stay away from sugar, avoid dairy, eggs, gluten, and corn. Use your spices and herbs, especially include garlic, turmeric, ginger, thyme, oregano, in your meals. Go for walks in the fresh air, get as much sun exposure as you can (hard to overdo it in Winter). Avoid taxing exercise sessions, such as bootcamps. Drink clean water, rest 8 hours nightly, engage in intermittent fasting (12-14hours) daily. Use a high quality multi-vitamin (vitamins, minerals, phyto-nutrients) 1-2x daily.

I know most of you aren't reading this for the above. However, the above mentioned things will make you very resilient to pathogens. I urge you to put those recommendations into place.

With the basics in place, here is what you are looking for. Use daily to maintain your immune system. Dosages are for an adult.

1. Vitamin D (adults ~5000 IU)
2. Vitamin C (500mg-1000mg)
3. Zinc (10-25mg)

Should you begin to feel sick: Increase daily vitamin C intake to 4 grams in half-gram steps. If you experience loose stool, back down to the previous step. Zinc can go to the high end. Also, now include,

1. Suspended Silver and Silver Spray (for example Silvercilin, dose depends on brand)
2. Garlic Capsules (for example, Kyolic Immune)
3. Herbal Tinctures (for example, Herb Pharm Rapid Immune Boost)

These options can be used safely for weeks. There are of course other options available. These decisions and choices depend on how the illness presents and the person they are presenting in.

People are dying, it's sad. People are losing jobs, it's rough. The stay-at-home movement is anything but socially distancing. Perhaps more than ever we are socially unified. Feel the unity, embrace the power that comes with it. Hold on to it. Do you part to help others in need. Find other people in need. The world needs you at your best.

Perhaps your child has been diagnosed as on the spectrum of autism, or maybe just you or others have noticed concerning behaviors, or maybe there's a haunting feeling you are ignoring. There's so much you can do, so much that is stigma-free, doesn't involve a diagnosis or potentially harmful medications, and is potentially life-changing. In fact, simple poor unexplained behavior can stem from biomedical disruptions.

Please understand that a child is developing rapidly, intervening now to disrupt potentially troubling or self-defeating behavior patterns can save a person tens-of-years of work later in life. What is repeated now becomes (close to) permanent.

Some common biomedical problems leading to "on-the-spectrum" behaviors include gastrointestinal (GI) overgrowth of Candida and Clostridia, inability to detoxify environmental toxins, and development of food intolerances and/or allergies. These physical and environmental factors limit the nutrients available to the brain and body, resulting in damage to cellular, metabolic, and central nervous system functionality.

Every individual with autism exhibits unique behavioral and cognitive symptoms with varying degrees of severity. Common symptoms can also include eczema, diarrhea, constipation, rashes, dark eye circles, and visible stomach pain.

I recommend beginning with the following three tests: metabolic, and pathogen test (organic acid test), mineral and heavy metals (hair tissue mineral analysis), and a food sensitivity test (not allergy, rather IGG sensitivity). Be your child's advocate.

Back to our free-range kid discussion... Are we looking out for baby chickens more than baby people? Sorry, Montessori isn't addressing the problem, let alone a solution. I know the situation isn't easily remedied, still we must acknowledge the truth however far we have strayed. Rather, we need to remind each other truth for the reason that we have strayed.

A few things then. Earth, light, sleep, temperature variations, food, movement.

Your environment determines how your DNA unfolds. Part of environmental includes what we consume as food. And so long-story-short we understand well enough that our chicken needs to be cage-free and pasture-raised and happy and played classical music and all that. Then does the chicken become suitable for that particular role of food.

What then of our children? Yeah, of course, sure, feed them their natural diet which might include free range chicken. But that's not what I'm driving at...

Our children need to be "cage-feee" and "pasture-raised;" grown in accordance with their natural needs and expectations. Give them the environment they need so that they too might develop as fit as possible for whatever particular role their heart draws them to.

I will continue this thread in my next post. Stay tuned and keep the little ones outdoors, in communion with nature.
