Lactating and feeding your baby isn't easy! You SHOULD feel proud of yourself for any human milk your baby receives. The time, the effort, the determination is worth it!

Do you know a common reason parents quit breastfeeding? It's not what you think.

It's perceived low milk supply. Perceived. Not actual. And who can blame them? Stores sell 9oz bottles. Social media bombards us with ads for fancy drinks and cookies with pictures of happy moms and overflowing bottles of milk.

But we're here to tell you the real story. Your body is only supposed to produce an ounce of milk an hour. And that's both sides combined. After 4 weeks, your baby will take 20-30oz of milk for their first year. You never have to increase your supply again. The content of the milk changes over time, but the volume doesn't.

Milk has a circadian rhythm, meaning different amounts get made at different times of day. It's normal to pump much more in the morning than in the afternoon. That doesn't mean there's something wrong.

When you leave a bottle for your baby, leave 1-1.25oz/hr you'll be gone. Small, frequent bottles help keep your baby's expectations realistic. If they're getting two 5oz bottles in 8hrs, they're still getting 1.25oz/hr, but do you only nurse your baby twice in 8hrs? They'll start to expect large volumes from you, which can make them impatient or fussy. Some babies refuse to nurse and will only take bottles. Keeping the bottles realistic and having a clear understanding of a healthy milk supply will help you meet your feeding goals.

Save this so you can remember how much to leave in bottles, and to remind yourself you're doing a great job making milk!

Spectra vs Medela.
(Theyโ€™re SO many brands & styles out there!!! Which one do you use and have you tried a few?)
I used the Medela with both my boys. I noticed that once I got passed 6 months BF I wasnโ€™t letting down as muchoumping and I had to increase my suction to actually respond to the pump. I have talked with a few mamas that switch back and forward using the Medela to a spectra. (They had a Medela from last pregnancy and got a new spectra with new baby). I have heard from several mamas that they love the spectra cause of all the different settings (suction speed & pressure) that they can adjust to fit themselves to help with a letdown compared to Medela only has how hard is suctions.
Ask us questions. We can help!! You have to make sure you get the right size Fl**ge sizes since the pump just come with one to two sizes that are just most common. If you need to have a way to pump and not be by a plug in. We can help you out!!
So so SO many choices out there we know it can be information overload!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿคฑ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿผ

Compared to the Medela PISA, the Spectra S2 pump is a favorite of lactation experts with a gentle emulation of infant suckling by a breast massage during expression. It has a very low decibel level for quiet and discreet pumping operation, as well as backflow protection to limit contamination by bac...

Who has been told to hold breastfeeding your child when your ill?? ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ. Who didnโ€™t know breastfeeding while sick will help give your baby the antibodies needed to either stay healthy or if they do fall ill, they wonโ€™t be SO sick? ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ. Our bodies are amazing!! Remember their touch and saliva helps our milk change for what they need too!! So do that Skin-to-Skin!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค—๐Ÿคฑ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ BREASTFEEDING FACT ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

You should continue breastfeeding your baby when you are sick.

Although you may be getting advice to discontinue breastfeeding because you are under the weather, have a virus, or are taking medicationโ€ฆ

this is one of those times that it is MOST important for you to CONTINUE to breastfeed!

When you are sick, your body is making antibodies for the exact pathogen that you are fighting and transferring that directly to your baby through your breast milk.

That will help your baby fight the virus that you are carrying and help them to stay healthy while you are in contact with them!

Discontinuing breastfeeding at this critical time will actually INCREASE your childโ€™s risk of contracting the illness and leave them way more defenseless against fighting it off since infants immune systems are immature and he or she is relying on your antibodies coming through your milk.
