Here is a post I received from a trusted source, please read and enjoy.
As the number of people seeking mental health support is rising, the need for early intervention to support children and young people has never been greater. On our Shout text service, we're taking an average of 1,500-2,000 conversations per day, with more than half (59%) of those being with under-25s.
NHS data shows a steady rise since the 1990s in adults and children with mental health problems and according to The Times, the number of 16 to 34-year-olds off work with long-term sickness because they have a mental health condition rose by 76% between 2019 and 2024.
A new review by the government, led by our Trustee Professor Peter Fonagy, aims to understand the reasons behind the growing demand for mental health services. This is a crucial opportunity to understand the driving factors in rising mental health issues, particularly amongst young people.
At MHI, we have been utilising our anonymous data insights into the mental health of children, young people and adults to develop our free tools and resources. We're providing a range of options to support young people with their mental health before they reach crisis point, such as self-paced learning topics and a soon to launch, first of its kind peer chat service for under-25s.
Through our digital services we're building a safe community for young people to develop their skills, boost their knowledge and enhance their wellbeing, while getting the support they deserve.
