Let’s talk about rolling the calves. You know, that little muscle group on the back of your legs just above your calf… the one people get made fun of and called “Chicken Legs” for? Yeah, that one. 🐓
Your calves are an integral part in your everyday locomotion. They help you propel your body forward as past of the spring mechanism involving your Achilles and plantar fascia. Without this muscle group, you have no power to go fast or far, or jump high. 🏃🏻
But in a tissue sense, neglected, they can cause so many issues! Things like Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, hamstring and even quad imbalances, and knee dysfunction. Well damn. 🙁
Without sounding like an infomercial, with just 1 minute a day, you too can have nice supple calves, and a step so springy, it would make Usain Bolt himself proud! 🥹
1 minute! That’s like less time than it takes most people to pee… and you do that at least 5-6 times per day… I hope. 🤷♀️
This is my favorite way that I like to roll my calves, and the most effective that I’ve found for myself. Rolling is cool, but sheeting the muscle gently on the underlying structures helps release that stubborn deep tissue that is usually the actual cause of dysfunction. 🙌
So figure out where you put that foam roller and go ahead and dust it off. 1 minute a day could help you beat that person at the gym that seems to perpetually be just in from of you. Can you say bragging rights!? 😉
