🎃🦷🦇 Spooky Smile Fact 🦇🦷🎃
Did you know? Bats may look spooky, but their teeth are a marvel of nature! Their teeth work like tiny dental tools—their enamel and shape keep them sharp enough to slice through crunchy insect shells and fruit skins tougher than leather.

Even creepier (and cooler!) is that bat teeth are custom-fit for their favorite foods- fruit bats have flatter molars for grinding, while insect-eating bats sport pointed fangs perfect for piercing. Nature designed the ultimate Halloween smile! ✨

🐋 Blue Whale Surprise 🌊
Did you know? Blue whales (Balaenoptera musculus), the largest animals on Earth, do not have teeth. Instead, they possess baleen plates, which are made of keratin- the same protein found in human hair and fingernails!

These baleen plates act like a natural filter system, allowing whales to consume enormous amounts of krill and plankton by taking in huge gulps of seawater and then pushing the water out while trapping their food. A single blue whale can eat up to 4 tons of krill in one day!

Dr. Aarika Anderson always brings a touch of nature to brighten little smiles! 🌿🦷

Just like our patients, our plants thrive with a little love, patience, and care. Look at Alycia’s orchid flourishing—it’s a reminder that when we nurture living things, they grow strong and beautiful.

At Tacoma Pediatric Dentistry, we’re always adding little touches to make our office feel welcoming, but our favorite additions will always be our plant friends (and of course, the kids we get to care for!).

Because whether it’s children or orchids, we believe in creating the right environment for growth, health, and joy.

Did you know? The first “toothpaste” was used by Egyptians over 5,000 years ago, made of crushed rock salt, pepper, mint, and dried iris flowers (We’ll stick with fluoride toothpaste, thanks!)

Some kids feel nervous before their first appointment—and that’s completely normal.

We offer desensitization or "practice" visits where your child can meet the team, explore the office, and even sit in the chair. There are no procedures, just a friendly introduction.

This simple step helps reduce fear and builds trust before their first official checkup.

Think of a dental home as your child’s go-to place for trusted care, comfort, and consistent oral health support.

When children have a regular dental team from an early age, it reduces anxiety, builds positive habits, and allows for early prevention.

We recommend establishing your child’s dental home by age one. Start early and stay confident, knowing their smile is in good hands.

✨ Happy National Tooth Fairy Day! ✨
Did you know the Tooth Fairy has been visiting kids for over 100 years? She used to leave just a shiny coin, but today the average tooth is worth around $5! 💸🦷

Whether it’s a coin, a dollar, or a sprinkle of fairy dust, the Tooth Fairy makes losing teeth a little more magical. 🌙💫

Keep brushing and smiling big, the Tooth Fairy is always watching over those pearly whites! 😁🪥✨

🦷✨ Fun Fact Friday ✨🦷
Over 6,000 years ago, people were already trying to fix cavities- archaeologists discovered a human tooth filled with beeswax, one of the earliest known dental restorations. 🍯

Thankfully, we’ve come a long way since ancient times! Today, pediatric dentists use advanced, safe, and durable materials to keep little smiles healthy- no bees required. 🐝
