Yesterday, I drove through a protest in a busy part of town. I'm all for the freedom to protest but many of the signs were hateful or condescending. All the angry yelling and cars honking felt very overwhelming. My daughter started to have a panic attack and I started to get upset that the protestors were there. Then, I saw this sign and my heart softened. "Hate doesn't make us great, love like Jesus." This simple reminder to love like Jesus, helped us remember where to turn for peace. I turned on some peaceful music to drown out the sounds, told my daughter to breathe with her eyes closed and I held her hand as we waited at the stoplight. There are many voices in the world but only one that will bring us peace. We might have differences but loving like Jesus did can bring us together. Love like Him and Love Him 🩷

In the last week of His earthly life, the Lord took the time to clear the temple of money changers, restoring it to its most sacred and holy purpose as a “house of prayer” (Matthew 21:13)—a place where men and women may commune with God. After this cleansing, when the temple was again a sacred, holy space, Jesus Christ healed the lame and the blind in the temple. Matthew 21:14

We learn two important lessons from this day of Holy Week: first, that we show love for God by honoring sacred spaces—this includes our hearts, our minds, and our homes; second, that God wants to heal us and to help us become true disciples of His Son, especially when we are weighed down by the burdens we have as imperfect people living in an imperfect world.

What is something you could do this week to prepare to receive the Savior’s healing? Is there something in your physical space that needs to be removed, changed, or cleaned up? Is there something in your heart or your mind that needs to change? Who could you pray for that might need the Savior's help? The Lord invites us on this day and every day to come to Him, ask for forgiveness, repent, and be healed.

Palm Sunday:
When Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem, a crowd of believers welcomed Him with palm leaves. When others asked who He was, they knew. They recognized him as the Savior, king of kings. How have you welcomed Christ into your life?

Spend time today welcoming the Savior into your heart by prayerfully asking God to increase your love for Him and for your neighbor. Seek to know how much you are loved by God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Offer quiet time to Him without distraction, even if it’s just five minutes. Let God show you how much He and His Son love you and, by extension, how much They love all of Their children.

Sunday ❤️

Project Kindness 42: #1 Hair Donation ☺️
As some of you may know, each year in February, I try to do the same amount of random (or not so random) acts of kindness as my upcoming age (42). It's a fun way to celebrate but also a reminder that another year older means more time on Earth to make a difference and change the world, no matter how small my circle of influence. I'm starting this year off by donating my hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit that makes wigs for cancer patients. I have many family and friends that have been or are currently fighting cancer, so it wasn't really a question that I wanted to do it. 15 inches from tip to tip (smaller one is 13) but I think it's the biggest chunk I have ever cut!

It's official! The location of the Tacoma Washington LDS temple has been announced. I'm so excited to have a temple closer to us. The temple brings me such peace and comfort and the service I do and lessons I learn there bring me and my family closer to Christ. It will be 5-ish years for the construction to be completed but today is a good day nevertheless. Also, how funny that it's across the freeway from a water park 😁.

October feels more like a new year to me than January. Everyone is going back to school, the seasons are changing, and General Conference. ❤️ GC is probably my favorite weekend out of the year because I'm always ready to be spiritually fed. 😊

It may just look like a family picture but I see so much more...
I see a son who has been missing from family pictures for many years because of hard feelings. I see another son that's about to leave for two years and serve a mission for the Lord. I see two tween daughters struggling to figure out where they fit and a preschooler that feels like he's never heard among the chaos of the house. I see the wear and tear of hard years on a couple determined to make this crazy collection of people work as a family. And yet, this picture makes my heart sing....
It sings for gratitude for these people and these moments
It sings for love felt in small moments and big ones
It sings for hope in the future and the strength of facing it together.
And I am reminded of another family picture...
A picture of a mother holding a new baby, with a father watching over, in a stable.
The picture of the nativity.
And my heart sings more for the Lord's redeeming love that makes everything possible and makes my little family eternal.
Every year Aaron works hard to build this nativity in our front yard, complete with a giant star hanging in the tallest tree. And that's basically our only Christmas decorations outside. A reminder that Christmas really is that simple... it's just about our Savior. I hope that I can remember that all year long and be reminded of Him in those faces and moments around me.
Because He made it all possible.

Merry Christmas ❤️
