Eating carbs...

Most of you have tried to cut out carbs. If you're like me, couldn't stick to it.

Sure, you dropped weight the first few days. The scale showed you were making progress. It felt phenomenal

You started calculating how long it would take if you were to keep this up before you got to your goal weight.

The calculations show you're going to reach that weight at a lightning pace.

You're having all kinds of foods like queso, sausage, bacon, butter...

After a while, the weight loss starts slowing down. You go out with friends and they're all having french fries, cakes, desserts, etc.

They tell you how much you're missing out and tell you that one won't hurt. So you go for it. You have your first taste of sugar in months.

It tastes so good you could cry. The next day you weigh and you've gained more than a couple of pounds.

Every day after that gets harder and harder to stick to it.

Finally, you decide to say screw it. I'm going to eat whatever I want, this dieting is too difficult. A week goes by and you decide to jump back on the scale to see how much weight you've maintained.

You jump on the scale and realize you've gained it all back...

I've heard this same scenario described to me so many times.

Listen to me, carbs are not the enemy.

Are they a necessity? No.

But they have many great benefits,

1) They taste fantastic.

2) They are your bodies main energy source

3) Carbohydrates are rich in vitamins and minerals

4) They allow your body to store glycogen in the muscles, making you look more full

5) They spare protein and fats for other super important uses.

So no, carbs are not your enemy. Your lack of consistency is.

Start eating them and you'll feel 10x better and will be much more likely to stick to your diet.

Integrity

What do you do when no one is looking

All of my life, I heard this term thrown around, but I never understood the importance of it until I got older.

I see people complaining all of the time that they're not where they want to be in their life.

They don't have the body they want...

They don't do what they love...

They don't save enough money...

They aren't where they want to be spiritually...

I get it, it's tough. I too often find myself saying the exact same things at times.

When I find myself saying these things, the first thing I like to do is be REAL honest with myself.

Did I truly do the things in the dark when no one was watching to have those things??

Every time I ask that question I realized it all came down to a lack of integrity on my end.

I didn't do the things that needed to get done, to get the things I wanted to get.

I'll give you an example for each of these...

Let's say you want to change the way you look, but for some reason, it's just not working out.

More times than not, it's because when no one is watching, your overeating, not showing up to do your workouts, or not doing the cardio that's asked of you.

Let's say you want to do what you love.

More times than not, it's because when you get home from school or work, instead of trying to build your business or your skills. You're sitting at home watching the newest season of "The Last Bear Killer" and you just "have" to watch it.

(PS, I don't think the last bear killer is a real show 😂)

Let's say you don't save enough money.

More times than not, it's because when no ones watching, you're going and buying it on stupid stuff. You're keeping up with someone that you're comparing yourself to, or just spending way too much time on amazon.

Finally, let's say you're not where you want to be spiritual.

Yeah, you're showing up on Sundays, but more times than not, every morning you decide to prioritize things over you're doing your quiet time. Or you would rather sleep in than sit down and read the word and pray.

What you do when no one is watching determines what you achieve when everyone is watching.

If you want to be good, work when you're supposed to and when people are watching

If you want to be great, work when you don't have to and when no one is giving you praise or watching.

Go be great

I got sick a while back. It sucked. I hate being sick. I remember lying there just thinking...

Typically my mind is always going. I have a mental picture of my tasks I need to complete, things I need to focus on, and things I need to fix.

Not when I was sick. When I was sick, I was focused on one thing, and one thing only...

My health. Getting better. That's it.

I knew that if I got better, felt better, didn't hurt and had energy, I could do my work 10x better.

Most would say, "Duh, that's what I would be doing too."

Here's the thing though, the majority of people don't focus on their health and are performing less than optimally in their lives everyday

They put their work, their task, their obligations over their health.

They try to pour out to others from an empty cup, hoping to fill others up

it's not going to happen.

I truly believe if we cared more about our healthy when we're healthy, we wouldn't get sick near as much.

Focus on your health. Take care of yourself. After all, whats the use if your health is so bad you can't enjoy it all.

I hope this puts things into perspective for you.

Ever wonder when you're supposed to do your cardio??

Should it be done before? After? In the middle of your workout? On a different day??

I get it, you're confused as to what you're supposed to do. Everything you read says something different and you don't know what to do.

Today I want to clear this up for you and help understand what you need to be doing.

Let's dive into it all...

My first thing I always ask myself when dealing with clients or when dealing with my own workouts is "Will this keep me from injury or get me injured?" The reason I ask this is because I know the quickest way to ruin progress is to get injured. I believe that if you go do 30 minutes on the stair master, then decide to go do some heavy deadlifts, you're going to be fatigued and might injure yourself.

So I personally opt for doing it later.

Now if you're eating great, your workouts are going good and is your biggest problem right now is whether or not you should be doing cardio before or after, you're KILLING it. So honestly don't even stress about it. Just get it in when you can.

BUT if you're not being consistent with your workouts and eating, asking this questions is silly.

Just do something. Just move. Just be consistent. This is such a minor thing to worry about in the grand scheme of your health. Often times when people are asking these types of questions, they're using it as way to procrastinate or as an excuse as to why they aren't getting results.

I'm just being honest here, but you're not getting results because you're not being consistent.

If you want to learn why you're not being consistent and how you can be more consistent, click the link in the bio and let's figure out how I can best help you.

It's so easy to set down in front of the TV, grab your favorite snack, and forget about the world.

Next thing you know, you've eaten the whole bag of chips and guacamole...

You probably joke about it with your peers, but deep down you know you're not happy with this behavior.

It's not healthy and you wish you could change it.

It doesn't align with your goals and what you're trying to achieve, but for some reason, it just keeps happening.

Trust me when I say, I've been here. I used to tell myself the story that if I sat down in front of the TV, I HAD to have something to snack on.

So today, I want to share with you how I broke this habit and how you can too.

1. Change the story you're telling yourself.
2. Make sure to have liquids besides you that you enjoy (preferably not alcohol 😂)
3. Control your environment
4. Make sure that you have someone to keep you accountable with this (preferably someone who isn't usually doing this behavior with you)

These are just some of the ways I was able to not have to have snacks if I sat down in front of the tv.

If you're in the same boat and you want to finally figure out how to overcome mindless eating, let's jump on a call so I can see how I can best help you!

Hope to chat soon!
