First graders last week learned about the pumpkin life cycle and then they explored a pumpkin by playing with the seeds and gooey mess. This week they had a great time at the pumpkin patch where they played in corn, jumped on a large inflatable pumpkin, rode on a hayride, picked out their own pumpkin, and of course played.

About Us...

Founded in 1867, Alabama Institute for Deaf & Blind’s Alabama School for the Blind (ASB) provides traditional and non-traditional programs and educational experiences for children ages three to 21 who are blind or have low vision as residential or day students. ASB has won notable acclaim for both the academic and athletic ability of our students while independent living experiences and advanced use of assistive technology help build self-confidence.

We also provide assistance to students with vision loss in public schools all across the state through the Alabama Instructional Resource Center for the Blind located on the ASB campus. Ordering books in Braille or large print, as well as other materials, is as easy as clicking here.
